A local council meeting in an affluent San Francisco neighborhood descended into chaos when hundreds of 'rowdy' residents began booing plans to place homeless people in a nearby hotel.
Crowds of angry Millbrae residents packed out their local community hall on Friday to protest 'Project Homekey' proposals to house 100 rough sleepers at the La Quinta hotel on El Camino Real, close to the city center.
So many people turned up that hundreds had to stand outside the 300-man capacity hall to hear proposals outlined by San Mateo County Executive Mike Callagy.
But Callagy's speech was quickly 'drowned out' by boos from the audience, according to Jordan Grimes, the leader of a grassroots campaign group for affordable housing who was present at the meeting.
Videos show the crowd loudly remonstrating in scenes akin to a sports stadium crowd. Some residents yelled their opposition, while others waved signs, flung their arms in the air and made thumbs-down gestures toward the speakers.
'The crowd is rowdy and angry, booing the County Exec until he's drowned out completely. Multiple times,' Grimes live-tweeted from the overflow area outside the hall.
He said the situation escalated when county staff hosted a Q&A session - which was quickly overrun by 'people having their own conversations' and 'yelling'.
Brandishing home-made signs reading 'Don't Bully Millbrae', 'Protect Us' and 'Safety for Millbrae', the neighbors aired their concerns about public safety and the proximity of the hotel to several schools.
Like many cities in San Mateo County, Millbrae has a high median household income of $141,399 - while also being home to a hefty rough sleeping population.
Millbrae resident Patricia Lam came early to secure a seat - equipped with a large sign reading 'keep our children and seniors safe'.

Yeah, you might get away with calling Daily City a “San Francisco neighborhood” but not Millbrae (which is South of San Bruno for gosh sake). Does the DailyMail-UK call Oxford “a London neighborhood”?!? ;-)
Masks keep you from being doxxed easily.

What is a hefty rough sleeping population? Another name for homeless people?
These people dont vote conservative. They just vote NIMBY.
Millbrae isn’t a San Francisco neighborhood. Its a suburban city a good distance away.
Notice all the clowns wearing face diapers there.
Amazing.
Look at ‘em. These idiots voted for this crap.
You wanted them now you got them. Life kinda sucks when you’re stupid doesn’t it?

“Not in my backyard.”
New libtard name for illegal aliens.
or homeless drug addicts.
Yes, when words to describe the problems the leftist have created too accurately they come up with a new term. Pretty slick trick.
rough sleeping population = homeless drug addicts.
“Rough Sleepers”!
More left wing abuse of the language.
Lefties are compassionate as long as the excrement lands on someone else’s doorsteps, but when the crap lands on their front yard their true colors are there for everyone to see!
Being a gas passing, bleeding heart sanctuary city has its consequences. Embrace the suck.
RE: They probably voted for it.

And next election these people will vote democrat and wonder why they aren’t listened to.
Which is what is happening in the Northeast US. they were fine letting Texas get dumped on with the illegals. But send them a mere fraction of those who cross the border? Their whining can be heard all the way back to Texas. :)
