Dozens of Republican lawmakers in Utah have thrown their support behind a likely challenger to Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney.
The Republican senator has faced declining poll numbers in the state and already has a primary challenger in the form of Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs. Romney has not announced his intent to seek reelection.
Should he do so, he may face a formidable opponent in Speaker of the House Brad Wilson, who has formed a committee to explore a Senate bid against him, Fox News reported. That prospective bid, per the committee, has already earned the support of three-quarters of the state House's Republicans and two-thirds of GOP state senators. The outlet put the figure at more than 60 state lawmakers.
"I am honored and encouraged to have the support of so many leaders from all corners of this great state. Utah needs a bold, conservative fighter in the U.S. Senate and I am humbled at the support and encouragement we’ve received so quickly," Wilson said.

I just know that Mitt is hated by Utah Republicans, so I am sure anyone running against him will fare pretty well.
He might but I doubt he would get more than 5 or 6 votes.
So, no Egg McMuffin this time around?
Don’t hold your breath about getting rid of Mittens, McConnell will ride in to the rescue just like he did for Merkowski when we FINALLY won the primary against the BITCH, Turtle rode in with a TON of money for her WRITE IN campaign andSCREWED the people of Alaska and what they wanted!!
Gambling is illegal here at FR Bushwood, otherwise I'd bet on your side.
Politicians nearly always take care of themselves and have little notice of the people. Should I mention a certain Turtle in DC?
Ha.
Keeping it honest as usual.
One of the Romney challengers needs to drop out to avoid this split.
bttt
This is possibly ,real good news!
Maybe the good people of Utah have finally realized how dumb it was to give one of their two Senate seats to Massachusetts.
Yup!
Three former dogcatchers have entered the race!!
I gave my reasons why I didn't and took the punishment here for NOT doing so.
Perhaps; but the majority of them are still Mormon.
...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’
Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church. Grease Spot Prophecy – Mormon QuotesMillennial Star, Vol. 22, No. 29, (July 21, 1860), pg. 455; “I prophesied by virtue of the holy Priesthood vested in me, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that, if Congress will not hear our petition and grant us protection, they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them, and there shall be nothing left of them – not even a grease spot!“. |
I know there are a lot of Republicans that need to be defeated in their primary elections, but Romney is by far my main target.
Anyone But Mittens.
Spot on.!!
Because Wilson is also a Mormon, and not a chance in hellolol they will let the state's top Mormon legislator beat up on the 'legacy' of the state's dubious 'top', if junior, Senator.
