I had a boss who volunteered me for everything. Yes, I was able to do it, but at the cost of the things I was getting reviewed for. This is political...see what a great guy I am giving you some of my best assets. Other than crime scene and possibly bugging suspects, they’ll have limited ability to investigate even if they speak the language. Nobody will talk to them.
