While it doesn’t look like Donald Trump will show up at the first GOP primary debate, Ron DeSantis is now set to face a different debate challenge. The Florida governor, while appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, officially accepted an invitation to debate Gavin Newsom.

When asked by Hannity what his answer was to Newsom’s offer, DeSantis responded: “Absolutely, I’m game.”
“Let’s get it done. Just tell me when and where we’ll do it,” DeSantis said as the audience cheered. “In one respect, the debate between California and Florida has already been had, as you suggest, people have been voting on that, they’ve been voting on it with their feet, they have fled California in record numbers.”
“Florida has been the number one state for net in-migration,” DeSantis continued. “We have the number one ranked economy, number one now in education, crime rate at a 50-year-low. But in another sense, this is the debate for the future of our country because you have people like Joe Biden, they would love to see the Californication of the United States.”

No conservative should debate at this time.
Instead they should give brief policy speeches.

DeSantis was once riding high in Florida and the country but unfortunately it’s falling apart. Just in the last few weeks news coming out of Florida has not been good. It’s not the paradise it was purposed to be. It’s now one of the highest cost of living states to live in. It’s no longer listed in the top five places to retire. Folks are becoming disenchanted and moving out. Very crowded and housing, insurance, utilities, homelessness, crimes, to name a few are becoming quite a problem. I guess that’s what happens when the governor invites everyone to come on down. It is becoming California.
I forgot to mention the gratuitous size reference in the headline.

Well, it’s good that DeSantis remains viable in the unlikely event we need to call up the junior varsity to take on the Democrat/Communist Party candidate in 2024; in a sense, a type of insurance policy that at this point no one else can fill.
Hopefully Vannity won’t be the moderator.
Of course, none of this means anything to the pack of rabid DeSantis-haters here on FR, the Democrat Underground contingent to whom their man-God Trump can do no wrong, and anyone who dares to even question his divine hegemony is to be the subject of unwarranted hatred and brain-dead derision.
