The Trump Indictment Criminalizes Political Dissent
Front Page Magazine ^ | August 2, 2023 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 08/02/2023 5:51:09 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

The serial indictments and investigations of former President Trump are meant to rig the 2024 presidential election, but the latest indictment is unique in rigging even its aftermath.

Previous indictments of the former president had broken all sorts of new legal ground by turning misdemeanors into felonies and deciding that the statute of limitations is just a suggestion, but the Jan 6 indictment by Democrat special counsel Jack Smith criminalizes election challenges.

Or at least election challenges against Democrats. And along with that, all political dissent.

The Jan 6 indictment contends that Trump’s election challenges were a crime. What does this latest indictment offer that the previous indictments did not? This one is designed to intimidate any Republicans who might seek to challenge the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

Unsatisfied with indicting the leading GOP primary candidate in order to rig the election, Democrats are criminalizing political opposition before and after the upcoming election.

The indictment reads more like a Washington Post editorial with its contention that Trump was “determined to remain in power” and so “spread lies” that there had been fraud to “create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger, and erode public faith in the administration of the election.”

If contending that a presidential election was stolen is illegal, where is Al Gore’s indictment? No Democrats have ever been charged for claiming that Bush was elected by hanging chads, for challenging his election both times in Congress, or for spreading lies and launching investigations for their false claims that Trump had been elected by the Russians, even when they did this in order to “create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger.”

Trump’s lawyer vows to use new charges to ‘re-litigate every single issue’ of the 2020 election.
An attorney who is representing former President Donald Trump in his latest federal criminal indictment vowed to use the charges to “re-litigate every single issue in the 2020 election in the context of this litigation.”

The case gives Trump “an opportunity that he has never had before, which is to have subpoena power since January 6 in a way that can be exercised in federal court,” attorney John Lauro said in a Fox News interview.

Trump is charged with conspiring to overturn his election loss in the 2020 presidential race by pushing fraud claims he knew were false, which prosecutors say amounted to an effort to obstruct the electoral process.

Lauro’s comments suggest that the former president’s legal strategy in this case could include an attempt by his lawyers to portray Trump’s myriad false claims of widespread election fraud in late 2020 as legitimate concerns at the time, regardless of whether or not they were correct.

President Donald Trump’s indictment for “trying to subvert the 2020 election”
convincingly aids Trump in his efforts to reclaim the White House.

REALITY CHECK-—Joe stepped into a mess w/ the Jan6 indictment.

The ruthless corrupt Biden now has to prove joe, in fact, DID WIN the election.

B/c he cant, this lends credibility to all the Jan6 activities.

The spectacle of a sitting U.S. President stooping to new
levels of depravity and ruthlessness to hang onto power
is unprecedented.

Nothing joe biden conjures up will stop the Trump campaign.

These far lefties running America now would have executed every American involve in the “Boston Tea Party” and would have locked up everyone involved at Lexington and Concord. “April 19th” hearings galore. No, I take that back. There was no FIB. Only U.S. Marshals. Real law enforcement guys. Not a bunch of Feddies acting like TV stars.

Exactly- only it criminalized po.itical dissent agaisnt one party only- I posted the following in another thread, but the following shows that punishment of “political dissent” has been ongoing for ever, and Trump is now a true victim of it

Was reading in Amos this morning when the chapter looked at the wicked King Amaziah, who tried to falsely accuse Amos of trying to cite an Insurrection. Well, long story short, God intervened and caused Amaziah to suffer the consequences that he had pronounced on Amos... the following commentary by Clark showed that what Trump is suffering today by being falsely accused has happened in the past too.

“i. “Hireling priests of this kind have ever been the great enemies of the true prophets of God; and when they could bring no charge of false doctrine or immorality against them, have accused them of conspiring against the government; and because they have preached against sin, have held them up as exciting insurrection among the people.” (Clarke)”

May the left’s deceitful attacks and accusations and false indictments hit the liberal party and cause them to suffer what they intended for Trump and his supporters to suffer I stead!

It’s becoming a reality that if someone wants to run for president on the repub,Iran side, they must take into account that the left will do everything in their power to imprison that person for life

This was the totalitarian state of affairs that Russiagate had only hinted at but that is reaching its maturity with an indictment that is not merely unconstitutional, but that seeks to replace any kind of open political system with a paranoid surveillance state that ruthlessly stamps out any threat to “democracy” by abusing existing laws to selectively target and imprison political opponents.

And that is what is really at stake here.

When Trump says he stands between them and us, he really means it. Now the hard part has to happen.

Democrats are criminalizing political opposition before and after the upcoming election

And the Left thinks this is great. Nikki Klayman talking on CBS Mornings for Blacks stated that this suit by Jack Smith was "Brilliant".

What is really happening to America in 2023?

The indictments have nothing to do with Trump. Not really. Conversely, the cover-up of impeachable crimes have nothing to do with Biden.

Don’t kid yourself. Joe Biden is not powerful or smart. He’s barely alive. And that’s the point.

This is a pure exercise in POWER by those who truly *wield* power in our society: The security state.

The ‘security state’ is made up of a constellation of permanent Washington DC apparatchiks who cling to the power center like fossilized barnacles.

The security state *never* puts their names on a ballot. Too dirty. They would not dream of stooping that low.

They are the 𝑮𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆

It’s far superior to control who CAN run for office. And who is allowed to WIN that office. And who is allowed to STAY in office (i.e. Nixon & JFK)

Presidents come and go. This system stays the same. The security state system has been in place for more than 70 years. All Presidents kneel. No President crosses them and survives... until the great breaking of the system in 2016.

This was the year the security state was internationally humiliated and proven to be powerless frauds. Paper tigers.

I mean, if Donald Trump beats your anointed Clinton candidate in a landslide AFTER you *rigged* the election against him — you’re powerless.

And the world saw it. And a crisis broke out among this community like never before. They only have power because of projection. And that projection was shattered.

The American people broke this system in 2016 and Trump was our tool. We rejected and laughed in the machines face.

This caused a psychotic break in the machine. A vengeful spite for regular Americans who humiliated them metastasized.

They clawed back power by breaking every rule with a demonic furor and black vengeance.

TODAY is a practice in pure power and a controlled demolition is taking place. If they can’t run the country they’re going to burn the place down.

See this corrupt-as-hell, old diseased, dementia-riddled child predator?

He’s President. We made him President. Just to insult you. We can do this.

See how he never gets prosecuted for his obvious crimes? We can do that. We control “Justice” itself.

See that orange man who hurt us? He’s facing 1000 years in jail for non-crimes. We made them up. We’re charging the President for “free speech” now. We control “truth” itself.

What are you gonna do about it? Protest? We will throw your grandmother in jail for “protesting.”

Try something smart and we’ll release another virus. Lock you down again. Destroy your neighborhood and stock market and currency.

You, the American people are NOTHING and we the MACHINE are everything.

This is a practice in exercising POWER against the people of America.

A show of force.

Now you know your enemy.

Fight them. While you still can.

The mafia-like (only much worse) intimidation factor by the Marxist left is working... as intended. It’s just not working with Trump.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam and leftism.

Smith claims that Trump knowingly made “false claims” because, among other things, the Nevada Secretary of State had posted a “Facts vs. Myths” document. According to the indictment, it’s not possible for the President of the United States and the Nevada Secretary of State to disagree and it is illegal for the former not to bow to the authority of the latter.

Democrats who rejected the conclusions of Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris in 2000, who was then denounced, threatened and parodied, were not put on trial. The issue is not the relative positions, but the relative politics of Republicans and Democrats.

Democrats have spent the last two generations criminalizing political dissent. Environmental activists demand that oil and gas companies face fraud charges because they “deny” global warming. Police departments face civil rights investigations when they challenge contentions of systemic racism. The Jan 6 indictment is part of a totalitarian program that rejects the idea of political dissent and the centrality of debate within the marketplace of ideas in our system.

This indictment is not just about a threat to a former president, but to the Bill of Rights.

myriad false claims of widespread election fraud in late 2020

False claims???

No.

True claims that corrupt courts refused to hear on their merits.

How many Democrats have alleged an election was stolen from them by fraud, from Al Gore to Hillary, and Stacy what’s her name? How many of them will be prosecuted?

I agree with you.

What very few are talking about is it was President Trump’s responsibility to ensure a free and fair election. The reality is ...Trump win/lose...a free/fair election failed to happen.

Second, does anyone recall the mayhem these democrats caused in 2016 and calling for Trump’s impeachment before he ever took office? Or where are the indictments on the FALSE allegations of Russia-gate? etc. Or the massive protests that took place on Trump’s inauguration day?

Third as pointed out the Al Gore mischief with hanging chads.

The peaceful transition of power ended long before President Trump demanded an evaluation of the murky events of the last election.

As you stated, “Now the hard part has to happen.” My question to that is, have we been preparing for it? I draw my own sad conclusion in answer to that question.

There are many judges involved with getting Trump, who have Conflict of Interest. Some have family members who work for Biden and the Democrat Party. Others donate to the Dem. Party. This is also true for members of the big media propaganda machine. Trump is painted as criminal for questioning the 2020 election, while Biden receives a pass for being out of touch and old age. Biden is protecting his last son over country. Was Obama involved with Biden? Trump worked very hard to be re-elected, while Biden hid in the basement.
