JUST FOR TODAY
As I go through some "troubles" in my own life, I've worked out this "formula" to help me be a useful and happy person. See if it doesn't work for you! JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once. JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will assume to be true what Abraham Lincoln said: "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be". JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought, and concentration. JUST FOR TODAY: I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. JUST FOR TODAY: I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it. JUST FOR TODAY: I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything, and not try to improve or regulate anybody but myself. JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have lt. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision. JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a quiet half hour all by myself. During this half hour, I will try and get a better perspective of my life. JUST FOR TODAY: I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give back to me. CAPT Benny Hornsby, CHC, USN (Ret)

Half inch of rain Friday evening meant no flower watering yesterday or today.
Sunday?
Probably.

Good evening, Mayor, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
I really like today’s message. Without the galley folks, in any working situation, the “top deck” would be in serious hurt. It really angers me when I hear “she’s just a secretary”, or he’s just a janitor. You “top deck” guys just try to succeed without them.

Hey there, Kathy.
No let up in our heat and that’ll be the case for at least another week. *sigh* They said it’s supposed to be less humid next week but that’s about the only break we’ll get.
I was glad to see it raining up there when I pulled up the Lake Hood cam this evening. No lawn watering this weekend. :-)

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Sounds like you’re getting a little break and that’s good.
It was another steamy-hot here. Must have kept people home because it was pretty slow at the museum.
We have some rain and storms moving in along with a “cold” front tonight. It won’t cool us off much but once it passes through, it’ll be a little less humid for a couple of days . . . they say.
Jasper seems to be doing ok tonight.

I’m glad he’s better. I’ll bet that baby is glad to be at home!
It’s still very warm outside...88...but by morning it’ll be about 72. Nice. Back to the 100s for highs after tomorrow. *sigh* Fall canNOT come too soon for me!

AFTERMATH OF PEARL HARBOR ATTACK & DECLASSIFIED FOOTAGE RELEASED IN 1942

Comments below the video:
“My grandfather was Navy WW2 and my grandmother was interned at a Japanese internment camp in los banos Philippines for four years. My grandmother and family along with other Americans, Aussies, and Kiwis were liberated at dawn by U.S. army paratroopers. My grandmother to her dying day called those paratroopers her angels from the sky. God bless and God speed always in honor and never forgotten, Amen!”

He was very glad to get home yesterday. He’s afraid of strangers and is usually the first to run off to hide when someone knocks on the door. He wasn’t happy staying overnight at the vet clinic.
Oof! Too hot there tonight. I hope is does drop to 72 to give everyone a break, especially your kitties.
We MIGHT get a shower here shortly unless it falls apart before getting here.

50 years later, a daunting cleanup of the Vietnam War’s toxic legacy continues
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/fifty-years-later-a-daunting-cleanup-of-the-vietnam-wars-toxic-legacy-continues
But now, 50 yrs after the contamination occurred, the time has finally come to clean up the Bien Hoa air base. Both US & Vietnamese officials call it one of the biggest & most complex environmental remediation projects in the world. It will involve the treatment of enough contaminated soils & sediments to fill 200 Olympic-size swimming pools, & it will cost at least $390 million, & possibly much more.
To: radu
I hope you get that shower! That would be so refreshing! Also good to hear that Jasper was glad to be at home. He must have thought he’d really done a bad thing to be sent away. Hugs to Jasper...if he allows them.
I’m going to watch a show and then head out. I’m very tired tonight. See ya tomorrow!
