COVID infections, hospitalizations and emergency room visits appear to have ticked up for the first time in 2023.

Yet another summer wave of COVID infections may have started. That is according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But so far, COVID's toll looks nothing like the last three summers. NPR health correspondent Rob Stein joins us now to explain. Hi, Rob.

I saw an adult male last week masked up, while alone in a parking lot.
I actually felt an urge to “Will Smith” him for his cowardice.

Back when this crap was in full swing, sometimes store personnel would ask me where my mask was.

I’ll never forget a pack of “security” sheep chasing me through WalMart one day.
I may be smaller and weaker but dang I’m fast and agile.
The endless line of other muzzled people waiting and watching were at first shocked and then supportive.
By the time I accomplished my goal which was to find the head store manager, snag a mart cart for hubby and returned to where they stood, many had unmasked.

(I know it’s impossible but I hope the guy you saw was the one I scared so bad in the dairy section that he ran away screaming. And yes, I was in a smart ass mood and gave chase)

Many years ago we were thinking of buying a friend’s Toyota 4Runner so he said drive it a week and decide.
Well there I am in an SUV with someone else’s tags on it so naturally I took off up the Forbidden Road to the ATT “phone company “ installation on top of the mountain.
Finally I could drive past those annoying “use of deadly force” signs and keep going until the inevitable series of really serious gates where I could see the blast doors that lead to the underground scary stuff.
Then a truck appeared on the other side of the gates and it was time to go in a hurry.
Took him a bit to get through those gates so I had a decent lead.
I could tell he was some outlander drone just working there by the way he drove.
I on the other hand know the mountains and what I can get away with in curves/speed/survival.
Hubby was freaking out and saying we should stop.

As the truck driver rounded a dogleg he briefly lost sight of us so I took a hard left up a rutted not-really-road i knew was there and stopped so as not draw attention with any motion.
The truck raced past the “road” and I knew trying to go back to the main road meant meeting him again on the way down.
So, I kept going on the rutted goat path with hubby freaking out even worse now.
After a long , slow , bouncy time we came to a makeshift “gate” which announced that we were entering a hunt club property.
Then I realized the stream to my left was Rattle Run, where my paternal grandfather was shot in the back for running ‘shine back in the 30s.
Hubby seemed to believe the shabby gate presented an insurmountable obstacle and the end.
I put it into 4WDL and just climbed the ridge around the gate and kept going.
Suddenly popped out on a road in Blair’s Valley.
And I laughed.
Bought the 4Runner too.
It proved it was worthy that day.
All I want is a man with the right ratio of courage and crazy, who will laugh along with me doing things like that instead of flipping out.
That seems an impossible dream, these days. …and I still need to go see the Cannonball tower on Cross Mountain before I die.

I was in Lowe’s today and saw a woman with two kids, about 8 and 10, masked up to the eyballs with those horrible black masks.
I doubt they take any vitamin supplements. What does D3 do?
Protects against viruses...they should have docs order d3 labs...or get on their own...level should be @60-80
Maybe they were midget bandits.
