First son Hunter Biden was driven to and from the federal courthouse in Wilmington, Del., in a motorcade comprising about half a dozen SUVs Wednesday, drawing outrage from conservatives.
The first son’s appearance was intended to cement a controversial plea arrangement for misdemeanor tax violations and a felony firearm charge. That went awry following a dispute between prosecutors and defense attorneys over the possibility of future charges for Hunter — including potential unregistered foreign lobbying.
But the elaborate security detail accompanying the 53-year-old triggered Twitter grousing over taxpayers footing the bill for the convoy.

Was the purpose of all this ‘prosecution’ just to get him protection from future (real) prosecution via the double jeopardy protection?
Sure. ONLY conservatives are outraged by Hunter getting the Important Dignitary treatment.
He still has Secret Service protecting him as he is the Resident’s son.
That 53 year old puke still gets Secret Service?
Unless i miss my guess he will get secret service protection for the rest of his life.....and we pick up the tab......ain’t it great?

I don’t think it’s technically double jeopardy.
Usually in these Fed deals, the defense lawyer gets assurances that the case is closed. Once a Judge signs off, only crimes from that day forward can be pursued.
That was the goal here, but the DoJ had to preserve that Case Open status to keep their actions / crimes hidden. The Judge asked the DoJ lawyer a direct question - and he said the Investigation is still open, which is not what the Defense was told during negotiations.
The Defense said the Deal was off as soon as the DoJ Lawyer was forced ti answer that question under oath.
I’m sure the Tippy-Top of the DoJ made it excruciatingly clear to Leo Wise (the DoJ lawyer) that he was to in no way say or indicate the case is closed because that’s their shield.

With Paul Manafort, the DoJ and a Federal Judge suspended the statute of Limitations indefinitely, so they could get him on old FARA charges.
They put him into Solitary Confinement.

After the ruling cancelling Hunter’s plea deal, they trotted out of the court like mobsters and jumped into the black SUV. Hunter wore a smirk on his face. I compare it to a blowout of a wheel to the Biden Crime Express.
