GOP rep: McCarthy impeachment talk a ‘shiny object’ to distract from spending

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) criticized House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) recent comments on impeaching President Biden, saying the remarks were a political move meant to distract from budget negotiations.

“What he’s doing is saying there’s a shiny object over there and we’re going to focus on that, we just need to get all these things done so we can focus on the shiny object,” Buck, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said in a CNN interview Wednesday.

McCarthy said this week that House investigations into potential misconduct by Biden have “risen to the level of impeachment inquiry,” echoing calls from conservative wings of the House GOP.

Actually, this “administration” is crapping all over the Constitution. Impeachment is necessary for the survival of the Republic.

Anyone in Congress that doesn’t see that is part of the problem.

If the GOP doesn’t vote to impeach, they are done as a party. It will almost be worth it to vote Democrat against any Republican who wimps out. Someone has to send them a message if they don’t vote to impeach

Arguing over spending while the left is trying to gain the right to diddle or castrate children is like having a family budget conversation with a meth addict spouse.

“to distract from spending”... which they have no intention of reducing either.

“Actually, this “administration” is crapping all over the Constitution. Impeachment is necessary for the survival of the Republic.”

Except impeachment won’t remove this administration, so how exactly would it change anything?

“Arguing over spending while the left is trying...”

The left is always trying something. That’s what they do. So by this logic, we will never reign in the out of control spending that has already basically bankrupted us.

Which is exactly what the uniparty wants, for us never to get around to demanding that they stop spending.

Buck is a self serving ash hole. THERE somebody had to say it.
This schmuck and Eye McCain will probably virtue signal and vote no AFTER they see some Democrats come over.
Oh but there won’t be any, you say.
Oh but there will be because Joey will not step down and the only way to get rid of of him is to impeach him.
That means McCarthy can say, “Sure we’ll take Joey out for you but you have to give us a few votes to make it bi-partisan.
That will also include impeaching Mayorkas and Wray then Meritless Garbage as well.

Think this won’t happen? Keep dreaming.

McCarthy is way in over his head. He doesn’t have the cajones to initiate impeachment.

If you think we shouldn’t start by calling out those that are responsible, then you are part of the problem too.

What is “calling them out” going to accomplish?

Perhaps you’re right.

Maybe we shouldn’t do anything and just let “our betters” decide everything for us.

I never suggested that. Don’t put words in my mouth.

Don’t talk about it do it. Combine the various investigation committees and convene an impeachment committee. There is already a mountain of evidence and various witnesses. The congressional republicans are impotent.
