* Vessel was en route from Germany to Egypt
* Still ablaze; salvage experts examine next steps
* 25 electric vehicles onboard
AMSTERDAM, July 26 (Reuters) - A fire blazed on a ship off the Dutch coast with nearly 3,000 vehicles on board on Wednesday, killing one member of the crew and injuring several others, the coastguard said.
Dutch broadcaster NOS said all the crew were Indian.

If only they would have had the new Biden railroad built..
Has this kind of destructive mayhem always existed and we just more readily know about it when it happens because of the lightning speed of communications and sharing media? Or are there an increasing amount of saboteurs out there trying to destroy / rebuild society? That’s a question everyone needs to ask themselves.
“Or are there an increasing amount of saboteurs out there trying to destroy / rebuild society?”
When you are shipping vehicles that are known to spontaneously combust, there is no need to resort to theories of saboteurs if they spontaneously combust.
Sooner or later this will happen in an underground parking garage somewhere. The damage will be in the 10’s of millions. Eventually the insurance companies will tire of losing their ass on these things and refuse to insure them. Kinda like house insurance in California or Florida. That will pretty much put an end to this farce.
Better check to see where the Nordstream saboteur’s were at the time . . .
One person has died and several have been injured after a car carrier with some electric vehicles caught fire in the North Sea off the Netherlands overnight.
The first was report around midnight on the Panama-flagged Fremantle Highway traveling from Bremerhaven, Germany to Port Said, Egypt with 23 crew members on board.
The ship is reportedly loaded with 2,857 vehicles, including 25 electric vehicles. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The burning ship is located around 27 kilometers off the coast of Ameland, Netherlands.
I think you are technically right.
I have to wonder if the 25 electric cars are a much bigger problem than the other 2832 ICE cars.
If all the cars were electric I can see them being forced to scuttle the ship & let them all sink to the bottom.
Whereupon they will be quickly reminded that contradicting the President's climate goals could cost them tens of millions in tax incentives - not even counting the cost of new regulations requiring them to insure green initiatives.
Ain't fascism grand?
Eventually the insurance companies will tire of losing their ass on these things and refuse to insure them.
This particular issue (cars catching fire on ships) is new because of electric vehicles.
There are Twitter posts of people being seriously injured when water gets into electric scooters and mopeds.
Until better batteries are invented we need to scrap this electric vehicle nonsense.
I wonder if there's a connection between the car batteries and the fire.../s
This is the kiss of death for ships transporting electric cars.

“The possible cause of the fire was an electric vehicle, one of some 25 on board, the official said.”
If you’ve ever been around ocean going vessels you become aquatinted with the damage that the continuous salt spray causes. Even living close to the ocean is problematic. You better garage your car because the continuous salt environment will eat it up. Problems with combustible EVs are going to be worse.
Just another entry for the category:
“Never claim a conspiracy exists when simple human incompetence will do.”
Although the fire is still not out and there is concern about fire boat efforts flooding and/or sinking the ship, the presence of 25 electric vehicles (among 2800+ embarked) is drawing attention. Whether or not the EVs are the source of the fire will have to wait for the post-fire investigation.
In addition to problems afloat, there have been a lot reports of EV catching fire in public and home parking garages. I cannot recall EV battery fire problems being this prominent until very recently. Yet modern pure electric and hybrid electric cars have been around for decades.
Is it just a consequence of the increasing numbers of EVs catching up with established statistical probabilities or is there a recent design change/manufacturing flaw causing the seeming uptick in fires?
I fear you are correct.
That is the main component of actual Fascism. Private ownership of businesses but under the control of the government.
That’s going to be really hard to put out, unless sinking…
I think it’s Hanlon’s Razor.
