WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has chosen Adm. Lisa Franchetti to lead the Navy, a senior administration official said Friday. If confirmed, she would be the first woman to be a U.S. military service chief.
Biden’s decision to tap Franchetti, an admiral with broad command and executive experience, goes against the recommendation of his Pentagon chief, but he is selecting an officer whom insiders had considered the top choice for the job. Franchetti, the current vice chief of operations for the Navy, would become the first female member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recommended that Biden select Adm. Samuel Paparo, the current commander of the Navy’s Pacific Fleet, several U.S. officials said last month. But instead, the administration official said Biden is nominating Paparo to lead U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the nomination has not been made public.

How does Biden know it is a woman. Is he a biologist?
Moreover is it a woman-woman, or a man in a dress. Liberals/progressives say that a man in a dress is a woman as long as he identifies as such.

To be fair "first division officer on USS Shenandoah (AD 44); navigator and jumboization coordinator onboard USS Monongahela (AO 178); operations officer on USS Moosbrugger (DD 980); combat systems officer and chief staff officer for Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2; executive officer of USS Stout (DDG 55); and assistant surface operations officer on USS George Washington Strike Group. She commanded USS Ross (DDG 71) and DESRON-21". These are successfully completed Operational Commands. Considering the number of male and female Captains relived in the last five years she at least has that going for her. It is a bit concerning that she only commanded one ship.
I worked for a couple very competent and tough female Admirals. In 2005 we felt one was on the fast track to CNO, but the Navy was not ready for a female CNO. Maybe she is a token pick, maybe she isn't. CNO is essential an administrative position. The CNO being a female does not bother me, if she is competent and not another Biden Affirmative Action pick for the next election cycle.

She looks like a nice mom to me. I bet she lets everybody play fair. I’d rather see a cigar smoking, older coot, who swears like, well a sailor, and has balls or courage. Or looks like Helen Thomas.In addition I want one that has seen combat, been in fear for ones life and for those he or she commands.
