Liberals and progressives being upset over country music star Jason Aldean's latest song and wanting it to be taken off the airwaves seems to have backfired since "Try That In A Small Town" has reached number one on iTunes.
The controversy started after liberals on social media accused Aldean's song of being racist for speaking out against riots and general lawlessness, despite the fact race is not mentioned.
"Try That In A Small Town" also features lyrics that have a warning about gun confiscation:
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you're tough
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won't take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town
Got a gun that my granddad gave me
They say one day they're gonna round up
Well, that sh*t might fly in the city, good luck
Starting on Wednesday and into Thursday, the song has reached the top spot on iTunes, beating out "Seven (Summer Mix)" and "Fast Car," the country cover performed by Luke Combs.

"In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous," Aldean tweeted. "There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far."
"'Try That In A Small Town,' for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences," he added.
Good.
Thats why I say, never give in to despair.....You never know what’s just around the corner....
CMT took down the video. He’s still losing some of the battles with this song.
Who watches CMT?
It’ll just make it a bigger hit by bringing more attention to it.
Another song the liberals hate is “A Country Boy Can Survive.”
Country has gone woke, so the woke Nashville liberals most likely support and influence CMT.
Not that I believe the spin that Jason Aldean is a racist just because he is from Georgia. But to those leveling those accusations I would say “do you know what is even worse than being a racist? Being a communist you poop slinging monkey!”
No explicit mention of race. But these are tells...
* Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
* Carjack an old lady at a red light
* Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
By and large, who does that crap?
I’m surprised he didn’t add “Push somebody onto the subway tracks” or “Beat up Asians”
Every victory is important. It’s high time these God and Country frauds that infest country music got called out starting with that wife cheating a-hole Garth.
“I’m surprised he didn’t add ‘Push somebody onto the subway tracks’ or ‘Beat up Asians...’”
He’s saving that for the next album. ;)
There are a number “first time hearing” you tub sites that have the song on it listened to and commented favorably upon by....black music reviewers. Country folks can survive...- can’t starve us out, can’t make us run....
All human beings understand the freedom described in the US Constitution.. a Nation of Laws and Freedom.
Except the people who want the entire country completely dependent and helpless wrapped up in regulations enforced as laws that do not exist. The worm is turning against the true tyrants of lib land.
Piss off Karen. It’s a great song.
If you watch the music video, you will see that it includes whites in the act of rioting and mayhem.
Last night on ABC they played the recorded CMA Musicfest Concert at Titans stadium from last month in Nashville.
We weren’t watching at first and only flipped over at 9 pm after 2 hours passed by.
We wondered if Aldean was performing but figured we probably missed it. I said I wouldn’t be surprised if ABC edited it out or had ‘technical difficulties ‘. Wife said they might have put up a black screen saying “Censord”. LOL
We were surprised 10 minutes later after a commercial break that he was announced. He performed this song.
We really thought woke ABC would have cut it.
I keep seeing the assertion that “Try That In A Small Town” is the #1 song on iTunes.
I’m not seeing that. It’s not the #1 song in my copy of iTunes, either overall or among the Country category.
