If the shoe was on the other foot and this was happening to the leading Dem candidate, The democrats in congress and elsewhere would have raised hell about it. The administration would have been brought to a complete standstill. Nothing would have got past the House and the Senate.

Instead we have hearings that never go anywhere, where Garland and Wray don't answer questions.

The republicans are either inept or the silent partners (with a few exceptions), in this kangaroo court proceedings.

“Meanwhile,” DeSantis added, “Hunter Biden, he would've been in jail if he were a Republican. One of my jobs as president will be to end the weaponization of these agencies, and I will get that job done.”

DeSantis compares Trump's actions to Hunter Biden's known illegal actions.

Strike 1.

DeSantis uses Hunter and avoids bringing the Big Guy, Joe Biden into the comparison, to point out the absurdity of the double standard.

That's strike two.

When asked whether he believed Trump's actions were wrong in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection, DeSantis said, “I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn't do anything while things were going on.

Trump tweeted twice, telling people to stop, "while things were going on".

Strike 3.

"He should have come out more forcefully ... but to try to criminalize that, that's a different issue entirely.”

Trump asked for and was denied the National Guard. Trump said before the riot, that people should demonstrate peacefully and patriotically. Trump then tweeted twice telling people to stop.

The crappy headline of this article aside, Ron's response was similarly disingenuous.

McCarthy and McConnell are inept, and are partners to this travesty. Then we have the Nincompoop from Alaska, Senator Murky Murcow, complaining that the republican voters are extreme.SHAME ON YOU!!

The leading republican candidate, who is leading by a vast margin, is being squeezed with lawfare and abuse of power given by the People.

Republican elected officials are sitting on the sideline enjoying the show.

If I was in DC or could have been there on January 6th, I would have gone to the mall. What I question and object to are the very small group of people that we see on video climbing the walls of the capital and then entering the building, going into private offices, even stealing things. Those were not Trump supporters, they should be called out and prosecuted. But overall, they were what, 1% of the people at the rally? Wrong and shameful to tar the other 99% with the actions of these few people.

“Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis reacted to the news that former President Trump is the target of the Justice Department’s investigation into Jan. 6, saying the former president should have been more forceful on that day but did not necessarily commit any crimes.”

“I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while things were going on. He should have come out more forcefully,” DeSantis said at a press conference in Columbia, S.C., Tuesday.”

DeSantis said he had not gotten a chance to closely review the news, but went on to speak out against what he said was the weaponization of institutions like the Justice Department.

“But to try to criminalize that, that’s a different issue entirely,” DeSantis said of Trump’s inaction on Jan. 6. “We want to be in a situation where you don’t have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail, and that unfortunately is what we’re seeing now.” https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4103511-desantis-says-trump-should-have-come-out-more-forcefully-on-jan-6/

Some of these pro-Trump reporters are unfortunately just as inaccurate as the left-wing MSM reporters. Ron Desantis is in my opinion the best we have, and I continue to support his candidacy for President. And I honestly think that we need him more than he needs us.

Don’t you realize Trump-or-Die types can really, really, now for sure, not vote for Ron? haha. Acting like children. Too many Trump stickers on their cars and flags in their yards to switch teams now. Hell, most would have to rename their daughters and have a few tats removed.

ROFL! Might even need suicide watch for some of them.

“ trying to insinuate DeSantis approves of the indictment.”

It’s true that DeSantis does not approve the indictment. What is troubling is that many voters/politicians are bothered by citizens confronting government. And they use the excuse that some were violent to criticize the protest instead of supporting those that weren’t violent. Those that focus on the violence instead of the obvious purpose of the protest are supporting our enemies: media/RINOs/Democrats/deep state.

Saying that Trump should have done this that or otherwise is ignoring why millions supported and attended that protest.

DeSantis is walking the same line as RINOs on this subject while claining to be MAGA. MAGA includes fighting for us and what we deem important.

This is why DeSantis is so low in the polls and if it goes further, he will be surpassed by Vivek.

He was terrible coming out the gate. He along with the RINO's are so out of touch with the base and what are the hot button topics. He gives these mealy-mouthed responses to Trump's persecution. Earlier in the year, he had to be coaxed into responding to these events. That looked really bad for someone who was trying to be seen as a leader.

Hardcore DeSantis supporters are somewhat dumb to think that this is only about Trump. Either that or they are RINO's watching the show.

Yep. This article completely mischaracterizes
what DeSantis said. But that doesn’t stop the rantings of the Trump Cult. The FR used to be a place where there was more measured discussion. Now it’s just as nuts as the liberals what with the Zeebots as well.

Trump asked for and was denied the National Guard.

I can’t help but laugh every time Insee this excuse.

So Trump the magnificent’s plan to secure his idiotic rally, that everyone told him in advance was going to blow up in his face, was to turn all the security for the event over to … wait for it … Nancy Pelosi!!!

Of course she sabotaged him. But how stupid must he have been to trust her, and not make other plans for securing the event. Immeasurably ignorant.

My intent with the thread title, was to point out that stating that ‘Trump should have acted more forcefully’ is the same as being in agreement with the DOJ. The DOJ has no other case against Trump in regards to J6 but that... You don’t think the prosecutor here wouldn’t use DeSantos’ statement as collaboration? ...as in: “See! Even his fellow Republicans agree that Trump didn’t do enough to prevent the riot.” That is how I see this as being supportive of the case being brought by the DOJ.

Agreed.

Voters/politicians that focus on the violence are purposely ignoring why the protest happened and the millions that agreed with it…….they are also indirectly supporting our enemies.

Those that make comments stating that Trump should have done something are also supporting our enemies. To say Trump is perfect is not the alternative either. A smart politician would back the protest as opposed to criticizing the 1% or faulting Trump.

If DeSantis wants MAGA voters, he must forcefully support what we deem important, otherwise he is no different than any other enemy.

For 7 years, every enemy has tried everything to get voters to abandon Trump. Now DeSantis is as well by being in the primary. What are the odds that MAGA voters will now jump ship? They know Trump isn’t perfect and support him anyway. Being told Trump isn’t perfect changes zero minds. He may have had a chance if he had truly believed what MAGA voters believe. He doesn’t. And he put himself in a very delicate situation going against Trump. Both are (presumably) MAGA. The only (presumable) difference is character. Thus DeSantis chose to side with the never Trumpers and criticizes Trump. That is not appealing to MAGA voters. They’ve heard every criticism true or false.

DeSantis should have said that the protest was mostly peaceful, infested with feds and overly prosecuted. Trump had every right to do what he did. But he didn’t say that…….he did ‘RINO speak’.

>> DeSantis compares Trump’s actions to Hunter Biden’s known illegal actions. <<

“Compares.” You make it sound like “equivocates.” His “comparison” was to say any “comparisons” are invalid. You directly upend the clear, unequivocal, unretracted, uncompromising statement, “One of my jobs as president will be to end the weaponization of these agencies, and I will get that job done.”

>> Trump tweeted twice, telling people to stop, “while things were going on”. <<

The entire failure of the Trump presidency (and as measured by our loss of freedoms despite Trump’s intentions, it must be acknowledged to be an incredibly huge failure apart from his Supreme Court picks) can be summed up by this simple fact: TWEETS DON’T MEAN CRAP.

Seriously, everything the president can ever claim to have done (again, aside from appointments) boil down to he tweeted this and he tweeted that.

He didn’t build the wall; he tweeted he wanted a wall. He didn’t fire Fauci; he allowed Fauci to install himself as grand dictator and shove his balls in Trump’s face again and again and again, but he tweeted how he’d do something different if he had any power whatsoever.

He was the president of the United States in 2020 and 2020 saw the death of America and the death of freedom in the world. Don’t waste your time complaining about how things were headed in the wrong direction in 2016; In 2016, I could still publicly discuss opposition to a government policy. In 2020, anyone who did so lost their job.
