TORONTO (Reuters) - Lisa Pauli wants to die.
The 47-year-old has wrestled with the eating disorder anorexia for decades; she says she has had a warped relationship with her body since age 8.
These days, Pauli says, she weighs 92 pounds and may go days without eating solid food. She says she is too weak to carry groceries home without stopping for breaks.
"Every day is hell," she said. "I'm so tired. I'm done. I've tried everything. I feel like I've lived my life."
Pauli cannot legally get medical help to die - yet.

No offense, but this woman does not want to die. She wants attention. Yes she has psych issues but she clearly wants attention.
There are so many ways you can self delete, and many are painless. Doesnt have to be opening an artery or a gunshot. People take a large bunch of sleeping pills and a hot bath.
People who really want to kill themselves and aren’t paralyzed, kill themselves. They don’t wait for a law to do so.
30 years ago, I saw a TV show about Dutch euthanasia. One of the people was a woman in her 20s with anorexia.
Her family doctor who hadn’t been able to successfully treat her was the one who put her to death. Did she seek psychiatric help, go to an eating disorders clinic?
Why do physically capable people insist on doctors killing them and tainting all of medicine?
Or she eat her self to death. Go to Tim Horton’s and get a donut
How about we try killing her with cheeseburgers and see if her outlook doesn’t change after a month or so? Not trying yo make light of eating disorders, but come on.
“I’ve tried everything.” No you have not tried everything, If you tried daily rosaries, weekly mass, monthly confessions, regular steaks, monthly fasts, and tons of ice cream, then you would be 120 pounds and happy.
I couldn't agree with you more. Most "mental illness" is above all about inward focus to the exclusion of everything else. But the point is that the state is WILLING to expand assisted suicide to those who are merely mentally ill.
It's going to go further, even into the involuntary realm.

I agree and that she certainly has affected her mental health before she was anorexic...not eating only increases her inability to make decisions.
good question...they simply can stop eating and drinking and they would be dead in just few days....or they can take all their pain pills at once....
but no...they need to get the attention of everyone so they make the govt do it....and the tax payers pay for it...
Maybe she just really wants to be a man. She should try changing her gender, and think like a man. Pick herself up some Swanson Hungry-Man frozen dinners, and see if her appetite improves.

At this woman’s age, my weight dropped to 92 pounds when a serious illness left me unable to eat. But, I soon gained back the weight I lost.
This woman’s illness is mental. She needs mental health care, not death.
She wouldn't have this problem if she was Amish. Her family would make sure she finds a husband. Then she'll have 10 children.
I am not trying to minimize her psych problems. Or even discuss what help she needs. I’m saying if she really wanted to kill herself and shes not paralyzed or unable to move, she wouldn’t be waiting for government to pass an assisted suicide/euthanasia law. People who really want to die, are successful in killing themselves. They find a way to do it.
