DeSantis says Trump not only didn’t fulfill major promise, it got worse
Fox News ^ | 7/16/23 | Jessica Chasmar

Posted on 07/16/2023 3:26:33 PM PDT by DallasBiff

Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis rattled off a list of what he deemed to be broken 2016 campaign promises by former President Donald Trump, saying he’d rather attack the GOP front-runner on the issues than personality.

"Substantively, we've been very frank about our differences with respect to the former president," the Florida governor said. "I mean, for example, he promised to drain the swamp – it got worse. He did not drain the swamp.

"He promised to have Mexico pay for a border wall. They did like 50 miles of wall. There's massive expanses still there," he continued. "He said he was going to eliminate the national debt. They added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years.

"And of course, in 2020, he turned the country over to Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, and those lockdowns and the borrowing and printing really set us on a bad course," he added. "I've been very, very frank at that."

Wow, you really are stuck on the Trump Fantasy ride at Disney.

No I am not. Those are your words. I am damned tired of all the moaners like you.

Babe Ruth had a .342 hitting average and he was a hero. You don’t hit them all.

Trump hit a couple out of the park. He didn’t hit them all.

Regarding these points of Trump changing position and betraying on issues of marriage. My read is he did not, there is a time to pick your battles. He stood firm on abortion, the respect for life. At the moment it was “settled law” on homosexual marriage. By that he meant there wasn’t much he could do on the issue at the moment. There wasn’t much he could do about it. He doesn’t promote it, nothing you present shows that. You have to engage people to change them.

It is your job to change the morals and character of the nation one by one.

I am dammn tired of conservatives who think passing another law will change things or expecting a politician to change things when they are not doing anything. What are you personally doing to confront the issue? I have been kicked out of a church for confronting perversion. My nephew has his job on the line right now.

Even REagan, picked his fights. you don’t win them all.

I am a physician and I didn’t know about Fauci. It was only when I watched the daily conferences that I got visions of snake oil and researched Fauci, mRna, the off-label drugs, mask use etc. I was livid.

But it didn’t take me 15 min of research. It took hours on several days and I have research experience. I had the time and expertise to do that. Trump is used to getting experts on projects tailored to the specific challenges, interrogating them and letting them work on details. In the business world it is much clearer who has expertise.

Fauci had every award and honor in his field. It was and probably is a closed group of corrupt sociopathic venial posers. NIH is completely compromised. When Trump got suspicious he got Navarro involved and sidelined Fauci. However much damage had already been done.

Why would Trump’s staff have thought to vet Fauci with his credentials. Who was supposed to second guess him at the onset of the crisis. They told Trump that the America could be decimated and he believed that he needed to work from the premise of avoiding worst case.

I supported Trump on here for years,

You supported Trump in the 2016 primary? I thought you (like I did) supported Cruz.

And then I didn't see you around here after Cruz lost for a long time.

Refresh my memory. Perhaps I'm confusing you with another poster.

“He also said he would supply Zelenskyy with more weapons. How does that get him to the negotiating table?”

That is what he said he would tell Putin WHILE AT the negotiating table.

He was sketching things out. You really think that if he had it all resolved in his mind at this moment, he would proclaim it to the world?

Are you people really that dense? Or is your Trump hatred so intense you can’t see straight?

The Chinese several thousand years ago build a wall, across varying terrain. I’m sure we can do it with today’s technology

Kash seems fearless and appears to understand the sordid DC system. He’s the only one I would fully trust to implement critical reforms, other than POTUS Trump. ‘Personnel is Policy,’ and Kash knows how to overturn much of the corrupt bureaucracy so I hope he’s Trump’s VP pick. Not Kari Lake, though she’d be great as Trump’s Press Sec. Not Vivek, though he’d be good at Treasury on another position.

I guess the part where I said that Trump may very well have tried other paths to work with Kemp was unclear. I think Trump may have a very different skill set from yours and his way of approaching situations is undoubtable very different.
I cannot agree at all that he is immature & childish. The attributes you call a fatal flaw are actually tools.

Trump has studied Sun Tzu and ‘The Art of War.’ Sun Tzu councils keeping the enemy off balance by appearing weak when you are strong, causing an enemy to underestimate you by acting confused, silly or stupid. Trump often makes small errors in spelling or syntax that cause people to think he is dumb when his deeper purpose is to get a broader distribution of his comment. He says things that appear wild but get everyone talking and in the talk people begin to look into an area they had ignored so that they discover the lies & deceptions.

On example was when he called Mitch’s wife, Elaine Chao,“Coco Chow”. It was taken as a insult but actually he was starting to draw attention to her family connection to the Communist Party leadership and the money trail enriching the McConnells. Coco Chanel collaborated with the Nazi occupation of France. Trump was drawing attention to the family serving the interests of China rather than the USA.

There’s always an excuse and someone else to blame in the world of Trump. Trump stood there at the briefings with Fauci, indicating his approval of the Fear Fuhrer, so DJT owns the mess.

In fact it’s amazing to see the excuses for 2024 already being laid in case they are needed after Trump’s loss. Back in the day when I was in the building industry it was called “developing the big lie”. It was a preemptive statement that evolved over time, intended to gaslight and shift blame onto another party. Trump is the grandmaster and his acolytes have learned well. It’s second nature for politicians.

We need a no excuses candidate for President this time around.

“‘Y.M.C.A.,’ the gay national anthem. Did you ever hear that?” Trump asked the podcast hosts. “They call it the gay national anthem. ‘Y.M.C.A.’ gets people up and it gets them moving.”

You left out that Trump likes the song because it gets people up & moving. He says “they” call it the gay national anthem not that he thinks it is. I certainly never heard it called that.

Now I know you never looked at the terrain. You are talking through your hat. Trump never promised it. Border patrol don’t want it and many miles are not technically feasible.

The Rio Grande River runs along 1,254 miles of the border between Mexico and the United States and does not flow in a straight line—instead twisting, turning, and flooding regularly. Under the International Boundary and Water Commission, created in 1889 by the U.S. and Mexico, border barriers may not disrupt the flow of the Rio Grande. As a result, the current border fencing in Texas is located miles away from the border on private land owner’s property.
In addition, the mountain range at Otay Mesa in California makes it extremely impractical to construct a wall or fencing.
The Tohono O’odam Nation runs along 75 miles of the southwest border, and members of the tribe have already stated they will not allow a border wall to be built on their reservation. A wall would effectively cut the reservation in half and make movement across the border, and within the reservation, difficult. It would separate families and make it difficult for tribe members to care for burial sites located in Mexico. Additionally, federal law requires the federal government to consult with tribal governments before constructing on the land. Without the tribe’s support, the federal government could resort to condemning the land and removing it from the trust of the Tohono O’odam Nation.
