DeSantis says Trump not only didn’t fulfill major promise, it got worse
Fox News ^ | 7/16/23 | Jessica Chasmar

Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis rattled off a list of what he deemed to be broken 2016 campaign promises by former President Donald Trump, saying he’d rather attack the GOP front-runner on the issues than personality.

"Substantively, we've been very frank about our differences with respect to the former president," the Florida governor said. "I mean, for example, he promised to drain the swamp – it got worse. He did not drain the swamp.

"He promised to have Mexico pay for a border wall. They did like 50 miles of wall. There's massive expanses still there," he continued. "He said he was going to eliminate the national debt. They added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years.

"And of course, in 2020, he turned the country over to Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, and those lockdowns and the borrowing and printing really set us on a bad course," he added. "I've been very, very frank at that."

My understanding is that it was Pelosi who directed them to refuse.

True.

The 295 miles which were rusted strand of barbed wire, perhaps a vertical pole every few hundred feet, leaning over into the dirt, and maybe a rail, with nails backing out, which were replaced, in critical high traffic areas, with a 20 foot high metal wall with the base buried in concrete, that wall should not be counted as new wall, because, after all, it was just a replacement of existing, very effective in keeping out undesirable, 100 year old dilapidated (but collectible antique!) fencing.

I get the anger from Trump supporters that we wouldn’t even be having this argument if the CCP didn’t unleash this virus on the world, but it happened and it caused him to make some mistakes and opened some opportunities for the communists which probably cost him the presidency.

However, politicians are just employees. RD is a measurable upgrade in every way. All of the attacks on him are vague and dumb. He’s a “globalist”. What? Trump was basically out threatening WW3 today and has talked at length about how “big hearted” he is about “Dreamers”. I’ve seen enough.

And they will be DeSantis’s or anyone else’s enemies, unless they, too, don’t want the Wall.

A lot of us thought a TumpDeSantis ticket was a winner. The crap DeSantis is peeing is a turn off. He fails to understand that Trump had to spend half his time in office fighting the Russian hoax bullshit.

“Calling a worthless riot?”

Trump did not start any riot, nor did he want one.

"He signed the First Step Act. Letting felons go is never a good idea."

That program is for the Federal prison system only, and having worked in NY State's prison system, in uniform for 25 years, I would rather have a program where qualified convicts are provided with an avenue to better themselves, than simply dumping them out on the street because of Covid, closing prisons to save money, or releasing repeat violent offenders back out on the street within hours of their arrest so they can re-offend again...all of which goes on in New York State now.

And why did the Obamacare vote fail? Because of McCain.

And why was McCain so petulant and pissy that he voted that way? Trump had insulted him publicly about his military service, and he was getting payback.

I’m not giving McCain a pass; he was a small man who couldn’t overlook an insult, but Trump’s petty, nasty, PUBLIC criticism of McCain is the proximate cause of why Obamacare is still the law of the land.

Trump lost Georgia for the same reason—he just had to publicly berate Kemp for opening GA too soon, in his opinion, after lockdown. He couldn’t pick up the phone and call Kemp and ask, no, he has to take to Twitter and make a permanent enemy of a governor whose state votes he desperately needed, so Kemp looked the other way while Raffensberger aided the steal. Again, petty revenge on Kemp’s part, and Trump is likely facing indictment in Fulton Co. because of it.

What Trump still needs to learn is that he’s not the only politician with an outsized ego, and chastise in PRIVATE, for the love of God.

And there is absolutely no evidence that Trump has learned that vital lesson.

Again, infecdted by media.

Do you have any understanding how long it takes to turn things around? Every small thing Trump did at great cost.

But no, You are a child, you want instant gratification. Trump didn’t do everything.

Grow up, be an adult. Recognize the good things done, the small battles won, Join in the small battles.

Trump is still in the battle, YOU folded like a wet noodle.

You sir, are no conservative, no matter what you put as a tagline. I am really saddened that you persist in twisting facts to fit your narrative. You ignore all of the evidence of Trump’s achievements and the net movement of America to conservative principles under Trump to focus on a few pet peeves. It is worse than throwing the baby out with the bath water because we can make more babies but we have no other proven fighters who have accomplished anything to turn the tide for America.

Our sloth and indolence allowed things to get this bad, not Trump. He stepped up to the plate, took the fight to the deep state. We allowed the election to be stolen because we were asleep at the wheel for decades while evil flourished and insinuated itself deep into America’s institutions.

Time to move on to the next shiny bauble, eh?

Like I said, when a horse gets so old it's just as likely to throw you, kick you, or bite you, than give you a good safe ride to where you want to go, you put it out to pasture. This old horse is overweight, lives off fast food, and has supposedly been vaxxed and boosted multiple times as well. A horse like that is not without competition for the new top spot, from someone.

Just pretend that a national election wasn't stolen from the most popular President in our lifetime?

Trump was donated $250 million to prove it, yet has never done anything other than call for a riot the day of the electoral college vote. Why should I believe a whiner with no proof? He's acted just like a liberal on this issue.

Forgive the DOJ for their continuous attacks on a President whose only fault was running and winning, and actually producing positive things for this country?

Of course not. I just want someone who will do more than Trump has, which were actually negative contributions. All he did was appoint the worst Republican AG's in memory, then serve as a punching bag ever since.

Let's keep the status quo, because it's easier to go along with the GOPe, in order to get along with the Democrats right?

More false projections. People opposing Trump are opposing him because he's been a failure on the biggest issues of all. DeSantis pointed several out, I pointed out more in my first post. Give me an actual fighter, not a tweeter.

DeSantis spent his early adult life with the Navy Seals and supervising military prison camps. Trump was going to parties in New York and making friends with journalists.

I completely disagree with you. If there had been 60 Republicans in the Senate at the time, they would have found ten more @ssholes to vote against that bill for one reason or another.
