Woke Rule: A Once-white Neighborhood Becoming White Again Is “Cannibalism”

It seems as if Archie Bunkers are everywhere today — only, their prejudice has gone woke.

Bunker, the seasoned among us may know, was the famously amusing ’70s sitcom bigot in hit show All in the Family. Apropos to the story here, in one episode Archie was apoplectic because a black family was poised to move in to his all-white Queens neighborhood. His attitude was meant to be considered unenlightened, the epitome of risible racism born of ignorance. But much has changed in 50 years.

Now being upset about your neighborhood’s changing demographics is considered enlightened — if it’s the “wrong” kind of change. What kind would that be?

Well, leftists, who detest Archie Bunker-like bigotry, have a name for it: “whitewashing.”

Oh, it has also been called a “bleaching out.”

In another case of art imitating life, this casual-bigotry reality is reflected in a new television work: Amazon Prime Video’s The Horror of Dolores Roach. The show concerns the main character, Dolores, who emerges from a stretch in prison to find her Washington Heights, NYC neighborhood transformed.

“Her hangouts have been replaced by chichi cafes and white trust-fund couples occupy the apartments where Dominican-Americans used to live,” writes The Guardian, in a negative review. “The bodegas have been replaced by bespoke [custom-made-clothing] shops,” adds the Los Angeles Times’ Lorraine Ali, “and the sidewalks are filled with folks who look like they stepped out of Lululemon ads.”

One thing leads to another and, to make a short story even shorter, Dolores becomes a serial killer who, with the help of a butcher friend for whom she works, turns the corpses into “‘secret recipe’ empanadas.”

For the side that claims to champion being colorblind, seems that the external wrapper is the only thing they notice.

Whzt it really is hiding is hatred of white people.

If whites do well, its bad. If whites leave an area they create the term white flight and say thzts bad.

If whites fix up an area that the current residents let go to garbage, thats gentrification and thats bad.

Man it jist sucks how the socialists have used them. I got along so much better with blacks in the 70s and most of the 80s, but people like Farrakhan, and then extremely violent and rscist hating rap came out, and they were very successful at making blacks disconnect even more from civil society and hate whites.

Remember when you had black friends in the 70s and 80s? No one gave a crap about color, no one talked quotas and reparations and just hated you because you were white or black. Crap on toast people.

With increasing crime in New York and other liberal cities, these neighborhoods are likely to degentrify, as the upper middle class liberals will abandon the inner city areas they improved. They will act like the Archie Bunkers of two generations ago and move to the suburbs. The Dominicans or whatever group moves in will inherit the community, with the improved housing.

It’s certainly the case that there have been gay-heavy neighborhoods and meccas that became less so over time. However, it’s kind of hard to imagine that happening in S.F.’s Castro anytime soon. The relentless, over-the-top “Pride” freak show is off-putting to normal people in a way that predominantly nonwhite neighborhoods generally aren’t.

I have a friend who was looking for a new house in a new community. We went out together and looked at some beautiful homes. Surprisingly, they ended up buying a home a couple States over. In private he told me there were too many minorities in the area we looked. The area we looked at had a large minority community not tied to the military. I was surprised because he is a minority himself. He grew up in NYC and said it was not uncommon for him and his brothers to fight on the way to and from school as they passed through other minority neighborhoods. He and his wife, also a minority, prefer to live around military but in a safer community. They chose that home and State because it was less diverse but still close to military bases.

I naturally prefer being around military folks and military bases. Those areas tend to be diverse. Racism is a rarity despite what the Amazing Marvelous Milley claims. But in private I hear more and more current and former military people talking about moving to areas or States that are predominately small towns atmosphere and white. They don't ever mention the white part out loud, but the areas they mention are all generally white and conservative. It would be understandable if the people saying this were themselves white, but they are not. It is obviously not racism, if it was there would be a lot of self hatred going on.
