DeSantis Campaign Is Giving 'Jeb Bush Vibes,' Ex-GOP Staffer Warns
Newsweek ^ | 7/9/23 | Anna Commander

Republican 2024 presidential nominee and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is giving out "Jeb Bush vibes" while on the campaign trail, former GOP communications director Tara Setmayer said on Saturday.

"The idea of Ron DeSantis was what attracted people to him until he went on the campaign trail and people realized that he's actually whiny. He got snippy with a high school student for asking him a basic question. He can't answer a question about January 6, [2021], for goodness' sake. So even though he's raised all this money, it's giving me Jeb Bush vibes all over again," Setmayer said to MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart on The Saturday Show.

In May, DeSantis announced his bid to run for president and is among the ever-widening field of candidates running for the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nomination. While former President Donald Trump regularly maintains a commanding lead in the polls, DeSantis has proven to be his most significant opponent, polling behind in second place, still ahead of others in the field like former Vice President Mike Pence and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

The problem with Yeb! And DeSntis is they do not come across as authentic I had high hopes for DeSAntis until he let the Establishment Republican consultants into the tent. They are only interested in two things: making money for themselves and perpetuating the the establishment cabal in Washington DC so their donors get richer.

The more I see of Ron DeSantis, the more I see nothing but a career politician. He's a career politician with some good policies and a good track record but a career politician nonetheless. The Swamp doesn't get cleaned up by one of its own.

He’s also a former DOJ prosecutor ... which means he should be given all the public respect any decent human being would give to a child molester.

Amazing the bashing Desantis gets here compared to Chris Christy who openly attacks and smears Trump. This is recent as well. I like Desantis…and I like Trump. IMG-8706

Bush41 seemed a bit dull and dim, too.
“Thousand points of light.”
“No new taxes.”

I’ve posted stories on Christy too, who I despise. He’s a Democrat, just won’t admit it. I heard one of his talking points on the radio today. He said in 2016 Trump pledged to repeal and replace Obamacare and didn’t get it done. And I was screaming at the radio saying “golly gee ya know WHY he couldn’t get it done??? Because of Lisa Murkowski and John F’n McCain, who Christie no doubt reveres.

I agree. I don't think Bush 41 was particularly bright. And for the most part, he was just a DC bureaucrat who made the rounds of appointed leadership positions.

I don't think political appointees get into the guts of the CIA and, because they are only temporary, are held at arm's length.

As an aside, HW Bush and W were both legacy Yalies. Jeb couldn't even get into Yale as a legacy admission (it is possible he didn't try because HW and Barb knew he couldn't cut it).

DeSantis is too busy raising big issues that people care about to worry about who’s getting “vibes”.

I feel like we are the real losers on this one because of their hatred of Trump the establishment ran Desantis one cycle too early, should have let the Trump thing run its course and kept the governor on the bench for ‘28

I agree. But they couldn’t bring themselves to get behind Trump. And they knew their usual crop of pantywaists weren’t going anywhere (Scott, Hutchinson, Haley, etc.) so they HAD to get behind a conservative and then begin whispering in his ear to run, that they’d all get behind him, get him the cash and the endorsements, the whole shebang. Just like Jeb!

But we’re not playing. We have our guy. And he’s GOING to be the nominee again. And all their insidious machinations will be for naught. But they’ll get their nice consulting fees in the meantime.

'he's actually whiny'

I noticed that for the first time a few weeks ago. That and a certain 'snarkiness' sort of threw me...

It was very clever to find a Jeb clone and allow him to go on and on about “woke” and “groomers” - two things the “donor class” cares nothing about.

“ DeSantis is too busy raising big issues that people care about”

Well, you’re right - except his “issues people care about” are of zero importance whatsoever to our rulers and his donors, which is why they gave them to him as a chew toy.

I think so ... a linseed Graham ... I did read an article about a prisoner at GITMO telling how mean and nasty Dee-Saintis was. I am sure the left intends to use against him ..
