The Department of Justice is prepared to seek indictments against multiple figures in former president Donald Trump’s orbit and may yet bring additional charges against the ex-president in the coming weeks, The Independent has learned.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the department has made preparations to bring what is known as a “superseding indictment” — a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes — against the ex-president in the Southern District of Florida.
But prosecutors may also choose to bring additional charges against Mr Trump in a different venue, depending on how they feel the case they have brought against him in is proceeding.
The Independent understands that prosecutors’ decision on whether to seek additional charges from a grand jury — and where to seek them — will depend in part on whether they feel the Trump-appointed district judge overseeing the case against him in the Southern District of Florida, Aileen Cannon, is giving undue deference to the twice-impeached, now twice-indicted former president.
The team of federal prosecutors working under Special Counsel Jack Smith is currently prepared to add an “additional 30 to 45 charges” in addition to the 37-count indictment brought against Mr Trump on 8 June, either in a superseding indictment in the same Florida court or in a different federal judicial district. In either case, they would do so using evidence against the ex-president that has not yet been publicly acknowledged by the department, including other recordings prosecutors have obtained which reveal Mr Trump making incriminating statements.

Dream on sport.
If they actually ever do lock up Trump, that place should literally get the Bastille treatment hard. It has to start somewhere. They aren’t going away it seems. Send Jack scurrying back to the Netherlands for asylum.
I do.
I hate to say it, but that’s not likely. If Lake does this, and it looks like she would win, they’ll just kill her, and likely Trump as well.
I’ve pretty much lost faith that this country will get back on the right track.
Sooner or later they will charge him with Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
Think Madrid, 1936.
I am kind of surprised they just don’t hire an assassin and have done with it.
LOL- and call it mental espionage or some such thing
This is digital and lawfare assassination. Stalin and Hitler murdered you in a ditch outside of town because that’s all they could do back then besides an open air pen. Todays despots in DC and London have much easier options. They can ensure your job is lost, that’s all banks refuse you, that your medical care is denied, that you cannot access any method to get your ideas out, etc. You aren’t murdered they say… you see free they say. You can go sit on a park bench and talk to the pigeons all you want and live on your sisters couch.
But they aren’t despots… get it?
There is not going to be a Revolution. At least not on our part. If we were going to fight, we would have fought when they executed their Coup and installed Lying Joe Biden in the White House.
The better way is for Trump to pick her as VP running mate. And doing it that way instead of what you recommend has absolutely nothing to do with ego.
“Did not lock her up. Did not build a wall, much less make Mexico pay for it. ”
It could not be more obvious that from the moment she was sworn in and he had no control over the DOJ. After he fired told me he was pointedly and publicly told by Republicans that if he tried any further activity like that he would be impeached and removed. The worst kind of lie. He did everything but go down there with bricks and a trowel and build it himself. The republican party fought him at every turn. Then he used discretionary DOD funding and they fought him to stop that. Then when they succeed and porting him, the crow that he didn’t get it done. And utterly disingenuous lie. Typical GOP BS.
That’s true… until it isn’t. Your points merely illustrate Americans patience and deep desire that some institution of government so finally work. But it’s foolish to conclude there is no final red line. Three acre thing is they don’t think there is, and nobody else knows except what will be the spark.
Lake is ok, but ones first elected office being president only ensures she wood be swarmed with DC republicans immediately throughout “her” administration.
“There is not going to be a Revolution. At least not on our part. If we were going to fight, we would have fought when they executed their Coup and installed Lying Joe Biden in the White House.”
There should have been a Revolution when they rammed Obamacare thru, in the dead of night on Xmas eve, without ANY support from the Republican Party, and in total opposition to the majority of Americans.... effectively extending a gigantic Marxist index finger to all Americans. We should have known then what was coming and acted accordingly. But nooooo...
After he fired Comey that is.
This is like the lying call of “racist” whenever a piece of commie trash don’t get total compliance.
Even if you do not support DJTrump, say you do as a means of protesting the lies. Use it to get in their faces. Cause chaos.
Get a bunch of Trump2024 stickers (like the “I did that” ones on gas pumps) and place them on every car in a lot. Drive the commie trash crazy(er).
Trump announced he wasn't going to pursue Hillary immediately after the election, while he was still President "elect" and hadn't even taken office yet. Said he didn't want to hurt his friends the Clintons, and his followers would understand. He missed his chance to go on the offense, like he promised.
As President, he got to appoint the AG, Deputy AG, all the prosecutors for all the state offices, etc. His choices were obviously not good. He should have had someone at AG and deputy who would protect him, and pursue the other side, not assign a special counsel against him as was done.
Sessions testified that he would recuse himself from the Russia probe during his confirmation hearing, so it was already a known problem for Trump when the appointment was made. Trump claims to have been blindsided, later, but that question and plan should have been sorted out well before then, or a different appointment made.
So that wasn't the GOP doing Trump in, it was his own pick. Sure he was fighting with asshats like Jeff Flake, but he couldn't even put a core team together to bar the door. He even fired one of the possibly good guys in all this, Mike Flynn, which is really the only quick firing he ever did of anyone, and he fired very few overall.
We all WANT Trump to do good, and he did some good especially when he had a Republican Congress. But he's just not been very good at actually getting things done when left to fend for himself. And you really can't be a one man wrecking ball in DC, as he portends to be. Your own posts allude to that, you admitted he "had no control" over some things. Trump's methods have played a part in creating this mess, and we all feel badly for him, and want to get the bad guys, but Trump isn't going to be the one to get it sorted out. I don't think he'll ever get back into office, and even if he does, they'll be 1,000 times more opposed to him than they were last time.
I doubt we're going to agree, but at least we got to vent, and kept it civil. Feel free to reply more or anytime, we've shared a lot of good threads over the years. Thanks.
Thank you. I agree wholeheartedly.
