“Did not lock her up. Did not build a wall, much less make Mexico pay for it. ”
It could not be more obvious that from the moment she was sworn in and he had no control over the DOJ. After he fired told me he was pointedly and publicly told by Republicans that if he tried any further activity like that he would be impeached and removed. The worst kind of lie. He did everything but go down there with bricks and a trowel and build it himself. The republican party fought him at every turn. Then he used discretionary DOD funding and they fought him to stop that. Then when they succeed and porting him, the crow that he didn’t get it done. And utterly disingenuous lie. Typical GOP BS.
After he fired Comey that is.
Trump announced he wasn't going to pursue Hillary immediately after the election, while he was still President "elect" and hadn't even taken office yet. Said he didn't want to hurt his friends the Clintons, and his followers would understand. He missed his chance to go on the offense, like he promised.
As President, he got to appoint the AG, Deputy AG, all the prosecutors for all the state offices, etc. His choices were obviously not good. He should have had someone at AG and deputy who would protect him, and pursue the other side, not assign a special counsel against him as was done.
Sessions testified that he would recuse himself from the Russia probe during his confirmation hearing, so it was already a known problem for Trump when the appointment was made. Trump claims to have been blindsided, later, but that question and plan should have been sorted out well before then, or a different appointment made.
So that wasn't the GOP doing Trump in, it was his own pick. Sure he was fighting with asshats like Jeff Flake, but he couldn't even put a core team together to bar the door. He even fired one of the possibly good guys in all this, Mike Flynn, which is really the only quick firing he ever did of anyone, and he fired very few overall.
We all WANT Trump to do good, and he did some good especially when he had a Republican Congress. But he's just not been very good at actually getting things done when left to fend for himself. And you really can't be a one man wrecking ball in DC, as he portends to be. Your own posts allude to that, you admitted he "had no control" over some things. Trump's methods have played a part in creating this mess, and we all feel badly for him, and want to get the bad guys, but Trump isn't going to be the one to get it sorted out. I don't think he'll ever get back into office, and even if he does, they'll be 1,000 times more opposed to him than they were last time.
I doubt we're going to agree, but at least we got to vent, and kept it civil. Feel free to reply more or anytime, we've shared a lot of good threads over the years. Thanks.
