Because it gives Ukraine the ability to do precision strikes at long distance. This is a very bad idea for the US. Ukraine is losing and our leaders are getting terrified of the fall out from losing in Ukraine. To forestall the inevitable defeat, they are committing more and more of Americas most sophisticated and irreplaceable front line weapons to a doomed, lost cause intervention in Ukraine.

Cuz they can hit Moscow from Ukraine. Pretty much puts nearly all of Russia’s military in the UTO in range. Including their ships. Lots of specialty warheads too like bunker busters.

Guess they shouldn’t have killed those NATO advisers....

Worse than that.

I forget, Putin, Russian defense minister, whoever, said that Russia must have a buffer zone equal to the longest distance weapon in Ukraine.

This will make them have to take more territory.

The range of the ATACMS is 300km- none of those will reach Moscow. Their use will, however, force Russia to demilitarize and capture more of the Ukraine as a buffer zone to prevent Ukrainian terror attacks on the Russian populations of Novorossiya.

Why is it ok for Russia to hit Kyiv but not for Ukraine to hit Moscow ?

Because Ukraine joining NATO was an act of provocation.

“ Because Ukraine joining NATO was an act of provocation.”

That’s BS. Invasion had nothing to do with that. Read Putin’s manifesto from Summer 2021. It was meant to be a quick and easy land grab that went horribly wrong.

Not a good idea. I do not support handing Zelensky weapons that can hit Russian territory. If the Ukies can do it with drones, fine. But I reject using US weaponry to do it. Putin is nutty enough to try to strike back at the missile provider. Fred Thompson’s lines in Red October may come to pass.

At some point Russia will bring out the nukes. And it may not be just Ukraine that they aim at.

Biden's own security advisers are against this for two reasons, first being we don't have that many of them and second it will start WWIII.

If this admin is worried about anything that should scare the bejesus out of u.

Somehow wishing, wanting and or supporting such a delivery proves the bizarre nature of this country post Trump.

Even worse than that - Putin has just put the world on notice that if what he considers Russian national territory is attacked by advanced US and NATO weapons, he will consider that an attack on Russia not by Ukraine but by the US and NATO and that he will respond in kind to the decision makers who are responsible for the attack on Russia.

Think about if during the Vietnam war, Russia supplied North Vietnam with ballistic missiles that North Vietnam used to attack the Continental US .

How would we respond?

We almost went to war with Russia over the Cuben Missile Crisis without a shot being fired.

This escalation is getting out of control.

I really support using the threat of supplying assets to Ukraine to force Russia to negotiate peace with the best possible deal for Ukraine post conflict but the morons in Washington just want to keep the war going by sending more and more of Americas best weapons toa lost cause.

When the administration was advocating for this after Putin had already made clear Ukraine joining NATO was the red line not to be crossed. He’d said it many times and unlike our spineless liar in chief, he meant it. Nothing good can come of us keep supporting this money pit except possible nuclear retaliation if one of our missiles hits Moscow.
