Last month, Trump had the support of 53% of GOP primary voters. Now, he’s at 56%. And his closest competitor, Ron DeSantis, trails at 22%.
Trump’s lead over DeSantis has expanded from 15 percentage points in February to 34 points today.
Another example of Trump’s strength is only 13% of GOP primary voters say they would never vote for him, narrowly giving him the best standing among top Republican candidates. That’s down from 18% in October 2015, the last time the question was asked,

And current desantis supporter excuses seem to be the talking point being pushed by team desantis - desantis can beat biden in the general, but Trump can't
ok, here we go, today’s thread on polls, which may prompt more fighting over this Trump vs. DeSantis situation. Have at it.
He’s Trump. He’s Trump. He’s Trump.
He’s in their heads...
I don’t care what you think.
You seem to want to play some sort of moral high ground psy ops to try to gain support for desantis....
But never explain why people should vote for desantis, a proven liar, who jerks people around playing games with them, and committed fraud with a fraudulent transfer of campaign funds.
Trump has become a martyr for conservative, pro American patriots and we will follow him anywhere.
LOL.
You don’t have to care what I think.
I’m just observing, a lot of these sorts of stories are posted, often by you, and then they tend to bring out fighting over Trump vs. DeSantis.
I’m not taking any moral high ground. I’m just making an observation
And exercising freedom of speech, as you are and you should, and we all exercise freedom of speech on Free Republic.
Have at it.
He’s also pulling ahead of POTUS day after day as the truth about the corrupt Dept of Justice comes out. Why Republicans can’t make hay bout trannies coming after your kids is beyond my ability to comprehend... wimpiness?
The Democrats absolutely have to steal the election. It’s their only hope.
They will go to any length to make it appear Trump’s indictment is something other than nothing. The title says it all. Trump “gains” ground. Makes it sound like Trump’s popularity was affected by the indictment. As if he were tailing. Very dubious of them.
Soon Fox “News” will be trotting out their phony polls saying Biden is trouncing Trump.
And he’ll lose the General Election if he’s the nominee.
The Electoral math isn’t there. People need to pay attention to this.
Before anyone chimes in, I know what the definition of gain is. I’m commenting on how it is presented. The typical joe will read that and thin..k he’s behind because he is “gaining”.
Fox is pished at Trump because he has not signed onto Fox's denate in September with Brett Baer ( a Trump hater like Wallace was).
Fox is anti Trump but it sure wants him in that September debate because Trump would put their ratings through the roof.
NO question in my mind that Trump is much higher....Fox has everything to gain by having Trump at say only 25% because he would be forced to enter the debate. Fox wants to diminish Trump.
Talk to the axe, Fox!
BUahahahahahaha!
Paul Ryan must be crying into his mint tulip! Now you know why he came out blasting Trump saying he cannot win. He knew the fox poll was coming out and he wanted to get ahead of it. POS!
Fox NeverTrump News is deeply troubled. Have they called Zona yet?
—> And he’ll lose the General Election if he’s the nominee.
Nostradamus? Is that you?
DeSantis is the one that sold his soul to the Republican establishment and sold out conservatives. He made the political mistake of his life. He's not only been disloyal to Trump but the base of the party that backs Trump.
Any fighting is a result of the Republican establishment and its donors trying to undermine the base of the party's candidate for 2024.
In case the Democrats and GOPe have not figured it out yet, he’ll get a bump from every indictment. So keep ‘em coming, fools!
