Republican three-fifths supermajorities – 30 in the Senate, 72 in the House – are in the process of reversing North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper's vetoes, and Democrats by the dozen who supported the bills are reversing their votes.
The latest action was Tuesday, when a modern-day record six bills became law on override votes – five in the House of Representatives, and a sixth late in the day in the Senate.
The new laws prohibit environmental, social and governance factors in government hiring and financial decisions; prohibit compelled speech in state employment; address counties or municipalities that fail to submit annual independent audits to the Local Government Commission on a timely basis; include two separate acts that deal with fees and interest rates for loans; and puts the North Carolina Farm Act into place.
The General Assembly is 8-for-8 reversing Cooper vetoes this session.
In all eight, no Republican has voted “no” in either chamber.

Given the supermajority of the Republicans, you have to wonder how Cooper was elected

Democrat strongholds. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more votes than registered voters there.
A Republican legislator that acts like it’s in charge?
How novel.
Its because all the Republicans that run for governor suck.
Much of the states population is centered in the ‘Piedmont Crescent” and includes Charlotte/Winston-Salem/Greensboro/Raleigh/Durham. This region votes heavily for the ‘Rats. The rest of the state is fairly conservative and contains the majority of the state legislative districts. Since the democrat voters are heavily concentrated in a relatively smaller number of districts, the GOP has the advantage in the legislature. Statewide races can go either way. Most of the GOP gubernatorial candidates in my lifetime have been squishy RINO types, so the ‘Rats usually win.
>Its because all the Republicans that run for governor suck.<
The bright light at the end of the tunnel is Lt Gov Mark Robinson....if he doesn’t seek a federal seat.
EC
Sadly, yes there are people who did that.
It is GLORIOUS seeing the Republicans use their supermajority to stuff bill after bill after bill right down Cooper’s throat. There are a lot more to go. I would LOVE to see the legislature pass constitutional carry and then stuff that down Cooper’s throat too.
Yep. I was proud to vote for Mark Robinson and will be proud to do so again. I would love to see him unseat Thom Tillis our RINO Senator.
Indeed, it is good to see this.
But you Republicans are simply trying a roundabout way to put chains back on the black folk!
Yea. Cooper really hasn’t been bad. He reopened everything in May of 2020 during the scamdemic.
... as a matter of self-defense against 'Black folk'. Voting ID should only be given to adults who demonstrated basic English reading and writing skills. The voting population wants the results of persons who can sign their name and read the US Constitution in script or print, and briefly explain what the Constitution says. So English language skills are necessary, as well as grammatical rules (this is for those who drop the '... and subject to jurisdiction thereof ...', meaning it must be true for the previous clause to be actionable).
“...you have to wonder how Cooper was elected...”
Same way Biden was (and Hobbs, Fetterman, Whitmer etc).
