The Delaware federal judge likely to sign off on Hunter Biden’s guilty plea next month was nominated to the bench by former President Donald Trump — but was backed by the First State’s two Democratic senators and has donated to both parties.
US District Judge Maryellen Noreika was randomly assigned to preside over a hearing on the first son’s plea deal, which is set for July 26 in Wilmington federal court.

Those donations include $5,200 to Sen. Tom Cotton’s (R-Ark.) 2014 Senate campaign, $5,000 to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, $2,300 to John McCain’s presidential run in 2008, and $1,000 to former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) in 2006. On the Democratic side, Noreika donated $1,000 to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and $1,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in 2009, according to the FEC.

Ted Cruz explained on the “Verdict” podcast that the attorneys are selected by the senators from the named state, and the President is required to select from who the senators choose. Delaware is represented by Democrat senators.

Many people don't understand the amount of horse-trading that goes into seating an Article III federal judge.
SO, all states with Dem Senators have Dem judges? That’s not what I’ve seen. Besides, sometimes you have to refuse them.

My brother-in-law is a an attorney, went to law school with some people who became major CA Democrat politicians. He has argued and won cases at the CA Supreme Court. He long wanted to be a Judge, so he kept his true politics quiet professionally. Meanwhile he donated to Democrats and attended various democrat events. Unfortunately, his plan did not work. ( he also donated to Republicans, but usually to those in other states or on a more local basis).

And your sister probably didn’t do him any favors, either. He needed to be married to a man. But, I hope he ended up happy without being a judge. California was probably a hard state for him to achieve it in.
Its the Senate that actually confirms judges.

There are a whole lot of factors that go into the selection of an Article III federal judge.
They get a grilling by the Senate Judiciary Committee [the Democrats are intensely interested in a nominee's views on administrative law these days, and whether the nominee was or is a member of the Federalist Society].
You can tell things by the confirmation vote.
Dubya's judges leave a lot to be desired, considering many of their confirmation tallies.
Of course, many AT judges [After Trump] have skewed confirmation numbers.
