There are a whole lot of factors that go into the selection of an Article III federal judge.

They get a grilling by the Senate Judiciary Committee [the Democrats are intensely interested in a nominee's views on administrative law these days, and whether the nominee was or is a member of the Federalist Society].

You can tell things by the confirmation vote.

Dubya's judges leave a lot to be desired, considering many of their confirmation tallies.

Of course, many AT judges [After Trump] have skewed confirmation numbers.
