Joe Biden’s War on Guns Misses the Target

Democrats have been waging a war on guns for decades.

Like other wars that feckless American “elites” have waged against inanimate objects (such as drugs) or military tactics (like terrorism), the war on guns will completely miss the mark.

The goal is supposedly about public safety.

Yet, of the roughly 81 million registered gun owners in the United States, hardly any of them—around 12 percent—have used their firearms to commit crimes. The vast majority of gun crime in America is done with illicit firearms, usually perpetrated by criminals.

So why is the Biden Administration intent on trying to make lawful gun ownership so hard? It isn’t about public safety at all.

In fact, it is clearly about control.

Speaking at an anti-gun summit in Connecticut, President Biden stunned cynical audiences when he offered his most vociferous opposition to guns yet.

Using the 1,600 mass shootings that occurred since he was sworn in a mere 877 days ago, Biden made an impassioned plea to increase restrictions on gun ownership in the United States (this, as his own son, Hunter, was revealed to have illegally been in possession of a firearm).

This has nothing to do with the IRS. Nothing financial was seized. Just ownership documents. Make no mistake, they want to know who owns the guns. It’s us!

Biden also said that “if you drove here today, and you left your keys in the car in the parking lot, and some 13 year old kid steals the car and has an accident, you are liable”. It is tragic that we have a President whose handlers tell him to say something like this and he believes it and says it in a speech. No one is ever liable for the actions taken by a thief with who steals their property. Biden has no sense of right and wrong anymore. When I heard this I thought “that can’t be true” because it just sounds crazy, that I can be liable for what a thief does with property stolen from me. It just is irrational, common sense tells you that now one is liable for what a thief does with property stolen from them. But Biden says this and believes it. He has lost his mind.
So google “are you liable what what a thief does with your property”, of course every site says no you are not liable.

Probably not exclusive to LEGAL firearm owners & criminals are known to commit multiple gun crimes, including illegal possession.

However leftists have taught their children that if someone takes their property they are poor and need it more than their child does.

I kid you not.

Biden’s handlers war isn’t on just guns but also the middle class which must be destroyed before their long desired totalitarian government can be established.

The writer needs a remedial math course and a course on data and statistics.

There are very few "registered gun owners" in the United States. The 81 million figure comes from a survey. 81 million is the projected number of gun owners who are willing to admit they own firearms on a survey.

The source which the writer claims show 12 percent of the registered gun owners commits crimes, actually claims no more than 12% of crimes committed with guns are committed with legally owned guns. It is a huge difference. Violent crimes committed with guns are about about 500K (2014) to 1.2 million (1993) a year. At most, that would be 144,000 crimes committed with legally owned guns a year.

144,000 gun crimes in a year, Max. There are about 450 million privately owned guns in the USA. Another way to consider this is less than 3.2 legally owned guns out of every 10,000 are used in crime each year, because many guns used in crime are used in more than one crime. The number may also be stated as .032%.

Of total guns, the number would be, maximum, 1.2 divided by 450, or at most, .27 percent.

Gun control is akin to making it harder for sober people to drive.

I’m all for gun control. That’s exactly why practice at the range is so important.

Re: "Yet, of the roughly 81 million registered gun owners in the United States, hardly any of them - around 12 percent - have used their firearms to commit crimes."

9.7 million (81 million X 0.12) registered gun owners used their guns to commit crimes?

Sorry, I do not believe that.

Is there a source for that number?

Maybe - 12% of murders involve a registered gun?
