'Republicans got outsmarted by a President who can't find his pants': GOP Rep. Nancy Mace joins growing list of at least TWENTY-SIX defectors voting 'NO' on Kevin McCarthy's debt ceiling 'debacle'
The Daily Mail ^ | 30 May 2023 | Morgan Phillips

GOP Rep. Nancy Mace grew a swelling list of Republicans who are balking at the cost of the debt limit deal Speaker Kevin McCarthy cut with President Biden.

The debt limit deal includes $136 billion in budget cuts and suspends the debt ceiling until Jan. 1, 2025 - after the 2024 election.

Some of the opposed Republicans, who passed a bill last month - the Limit, Save, Grow Act - that would only raise the ceiling by $1.5 trillion, say the debt limit suspension goes beyond that is necessary and gives the Biden administration the ability to overspend for the next two years.

'Republicans got outsmarted by a President who can't find his pants. I'm voting NO on the debt ceiling debacle because playing the DC game isn't worth selling out our kids and grandkids,' Mace said in announcing her opposition to the deal Tuesday.

'This 'deal' normalizes record high spending started during the pandemic. It sets these historically high spending levels as the baseline for all future spending,' Mace sounded off on Twitter.

'After factoring in a small cut to discretionary spending over the next 2 yrs, we are still talking about ~$6T more or less in spending bc of large increases in spending elsewhere. In other words, it's a wash spending-wise.'

The deal also leaves non-defense discretionary spending flat in 2024 and allows for a one percent increase in 2025 - essentially amounting to cuts since inflation is not factored in.

Mace joins a list of at least 18 definite Republican no votes on the bill.

'After I heard about the debt ceiling deal, I was a NO. After reading the debt ceiling deal, I am absolutely NO!!' Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., wrote on Twitter.

'This 'deal' is insanity,' tweeted Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C.

Not even close. The system has been rigged by billionaires across the globe who desire to destroy the human race. This has been going on for years. Every politician, including every judge, has been bought off. We are now pissing in the wind thinking voting changes anything. The elections are completely corrupt and the judges ensure there are no challenges to the corrupt vote.

Why did you not take up directly what was said concerning who doesn’t support the bill and who endorsed the clown presently pushing the bill?

To a politician a “cut” is any reduction in the planned increases.

IMO, that's because the DemocRATs and their MSM puppets and the progressive loonies have badgered the conservative Republicans for not playing along. They've been made to look as if they are out to get the little guy all for the sake of the rich. And now many Republicans have been battered into submission and joined the GOP Rino gang so that they appear to be playing along.

I have long said that until we take away their lie spreading machine (mass communications) we will never solve these problems.

you said ..”You cannot be serious, I am looking for some heart break music for you, but this one will be tough to assuage”

Actually House Reps are much more attune to their voters then you may think.
Of course they want to run under the radar, but when the phones light up and the voicemail box is full and e-mails are flooding in ... it gets their attention.
Most of them don’t get rich in washington ... they count on shmoosy deals in their district .
Squeeky wheel and all that. Make sure they know your watching.

GOP rep planning to oust McCarthy over debt deal. Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina said Tuesday that he plans to trigger the formal process to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, saying the “motion to vacate has to be done.”

At this poinnt, what difference does it make. Enough Democraps will vote for it that it will pass, despite the “NO” votes of conservatives. Bipartisanship is a b!tch.

Do it again every 3 months until the Democrats agree to spending cuts.

They would not agree; they would be on very media platform blaming the Republicans, especially the so-called Freedom Caucus for damaging the U.S. It would be effective and hand the House back to Democrats.

I think a lot of posters share that agenda, and have long suspected there are plants here to disrupt and make conservatives look stupid. In any case, I'm strongly against handing any more election victories to Democrats since their party is by far the more dangerous.

Tell us all, please,—— what is the purpose of holding the House if you are going to cave to every Democrat demands and lick Biteme’s balz? Every year we hear the same damn story, “if we don’t give them their way, they will get back the majority”-——— who gives a $hit if they get their way, either way?

The bill that is up for a vote is the student loan forgiveness.

The bill just passed to reduce this enormous debt and we just to wait to see what happens.
