Ending months of speculation, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared his presidential candidacy Wednesday, setting up a seismic clash with former President Donald Trump for GOP supremacy.

A more formal announcement is expected to follow at 6pm, when DeSantis is appearing in a Twitter Space with Elon Musk.

That's pure evil. Even Bill Clinton came out right after he'd gotten elected, and told the public that he wasn't going to be able to give them the middle-class tax break he had promised in his campaign. I didn't vote for the jerk, but plenty of people did because of that promise.

“As long as DeSantis is in the race”... I think this is an important point. I wouldn’t discount Trump being in jail at all. The lawlessness and bought and paid for judges cannot be overlooked. If Trump would be in jail, who’s your plan B? Haley? Scott? Hutchinson?
Trump has Lindsey Graham as his main guest of honor at his 2024 kickoff rally, so you prefer that to what DeSantis is doing today?

Exactly right, which is why he’s lost so many supporters. His complaints about loyalty aren’t valid, when his positions keep moving to the left. He’s about where Bill Clinton was in 1996 at this point.

It sort of surprises me that DeSantis would take on Trump now. Perhaps he's been told by insiders that Trump will not be able to run because the establishment is convinced they can take him out this time. I have no idea what that could be, but after Strzok's insurance policy failed to work in 2016, I would imagine that they are determined to stop him once and for all. So much that they won't even rely on election fraud- too many variables.
