Automakers Hyundai Motor America and Kia America Inc. have agreed to pay roughly $200 million to settle a class-action lawsuit after the car companies saw a rise in thefts.
“The agreement, which could be valued at approximately $200 million depending on how many customers elect to participate, will provide cash compensation for customers who incurred theft-related vehicle losses or damage not covered by insurance, in addition to reimbursement for insurance deductibles, increased insurance premiums, and other theft-related losses,” Hyundai said in a release.

Car thieves just can’t help themselves!
Now, which bunch does the ever so racist Left act that way about?
What planet are we on? What am I missing? A certain car is the favorite among THIEVES and CRIMINALS and the car maker is somehow liable?
The Deep Pockets principle, I imagine.
In a shocking move, Ford settled out of court a claim made by Karens Offended by Movie Violence that by not making 1969 Mustangs harder to steal many fictional people suffered fictional violence in the John Wick series.
Dumb.
Look up the demographic of a Kia/Hundai driver ... they are a protected class.
I remember back in the sixty,s that people would steal VW Beetles with the foil from a pack of cigarettes.
I bought a new 2021 KIA. It’s not my dream car but I was able to negotiate such a great deal I would have been a fool not to buy it. It’s worth more today than what I paid for it.
I intend to drive it locally for a couple more years, then sell it and use the money for a down payment on a larger vehicle.
Well....I was walking back to my 1965 VW Bug, about 1973,and as I approached the car, I noticed something was different. It was nighttime, and we were parked under a light. As we got closer, it was still not clear just what was different. Once we were near enough, it became obvious. The front seats were gone. I imagine if I were Lew Alcindor, I could have driven it from the back seat. I called my father and oldest brother. They brought as many pillows as possible. The one thing I did not realize was that when you drive a stick shift, when you push on the clutch, your back is already against the back of your seat. It is only when no seat is present that you severely miss the back of a car seat. I had to pull on the steering wheel when I needed to shift.
I quickly learned that there are locking mechanisms one can easily install in the VW Bug that prevent theft of the front seats. The guy that sold me the VW did not tell me. Oops.
The ignition locking mechanism was poorly designed and easily defeated.
I wouldn’t have given them the steam off a January San Francisco street turd.
Deep pockets. GM is liable for a drunk driving death. The maker of Twinkies is responsible for a diabetic’s death. And Smith & Wesson is responsible for a school shooting.
It’s now “planet idiocy.” Did you see the earlier post where a bank shelled out $75,000,000 just because Epstein had an account with them? The stupid just doesn’t end anymore.
And for those covered by insurance, the insurance company can get the money from the car companies.
Next, the car thieves all demand to be let out since it’s the Car MFG’s fault! Soro’s DAs in 3, 2, 1……..
Which one? “One never know, do one?”
What’s next? Rosie O’Donnell suing spoon makers for making her fat?
Stupid is as stupid does.
If no one stands up to them, it’s inevitable that everybody gets steamrolled.
