Trump Hails New King, Queen, Says Biden 'Insulted' UK Skipping Coronation

Former President Donald Trump says President Joe Biden has "greatly insulted" the U.K. people by skipping King Charles III's coronation Saturday.

"Good Luck and Best Wishes to the wonderful new King and Queen of The United Kingdom," Trump posted to Truth Social. "You are two very Special People. May your Reign be a Long and Glorious One. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!!!"

But the praise was not effusive for Trump's political rival.

"Joe Biden should have been at the Coronation of King Charles III," Trump wrote in another Truth Social post. "Is that really so much to ask? The people of the U.K. are greatly insulted. No wonder we are losing support all over the World. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Someone with an official role should represent the U.S., as you said, a cabinet minister or even VP.

Secretary of State, at least. Pretend-esident not attending spared the U.S. certain disgrace and embarrassment:
the place was loaded with nice-looking children.

So the founder of the Anglican faith was an adulterer, at least in the eyes of the Catholic church.

Or at best a serial monogamist.

katy perry acted like a fool. Not sure what the protocol is for standing on the memorials but seems like standing on the Churchill memorial taking a photo of her feet is a classic American stereotype that the Brits have of Americans

Dear Trump.

For once (ONCE!) please do some homework before making accusatory posts.

I'm a lifelong GOPer, not a Biden fan, but it was not a diplomatically-indicated presidential visit.

Again.

For once (ONCE!) please do some homework before making accusatory posts.

I find this whole thing to be a bit confusing. Do US presidents normally attend the swearing-in ceremonies of other major allied heads-of-state? For example, does the US president attend when a new German president is sworn in? Does he attend when a new French president is sworn in? I don’t think so.

Political heads of state come and go. And there are a lot of them. So I would think the answer is no, US presidents do not normally attend the swearing-in ceremonies of other major allied heads-of-state.

But, royal coronations are a different thing. They don't happen often, and in this case, it's more of an apolitical cultural thing.

I get that the US and the UK have a special relationship. But I must reluctantly give Biden a pass here. And that alone gives me heartburn.

And as you point out, we have a special relationship with the UK.

My main point on this thread is that there really is no established protocol for UK coronations. That was a Big Media talking point. If I had to give an opinion on our president going, I would say, yes, go if you are invited and pay respect to the people of the UK, because the UK is a strong allie, royal coronations don't happen often, and in the case of the UK, a coronation is more of a cultural event rather than an intra country political event.

Anyway, here is a list of presidents and prime ministers who are going and who are paying respect to the people of the UK on their big day.

Polish President Andrzej Duda, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. China and India will be represented by their vice presidents, Han Zheng and Jagdeep Dhankhar, respectively.

Our president and VP are not going.

I thought Eisenhower attended a coronation.

Eisenhower sent a delegation. Not sure who was in that delegation.

I don’t think any US president has ever attended the coronation of an British King.

But if one did, there would be no requirement that he kneel for bow, or anything like that. Simply showing polite respect for our ally’s customs would be enough.

Geez, please consider that President Trump was (and truly IS) a Head of State. He absolutely knows the protocol.

The King and Queen have a special working relationship behind the scenes with President Trump that he obviously felt it important to recognize. Of course, Biden is a target of the Plan, so why would he show up.

Really? Why then did Jill Biden go?

Plenty of boneass dumb remarks on this thread.

“United States doesn’t recognize the Monarchy?” What crapola.

JOe Biden didn’t go, because he said he had a previous engagement.

His wife, Jill, is put in the last row....

“....so it would be inappropriate for the President to show up and recognize King Charles ceremony.”

That’s dumb, and it’s just another Anti-Trump bashing remark.

Why then did Jill Biden go? BTW stuck in the back row.

Exactly. The purpose of this article posted here was to bash Trump, by the usual suspects that have infested the site like cockroaches.

That is the protocol. No President has ever gone to the Coronation since America became a nation. They have always sent an ambassador. If you think that is dumb, than you believe this protocol is dumb.

Disagreeing with Trump, because he may be unknowledgeable about how to handle a coronation is not being anti-Trump.

Ike sent a military contingent? Ok?

He didn’t send his wife.

Think about that for a moment.
