One of the iron rules of wokeism that corporations and CEOs have absorbed is this: You never turn your back on the LGBTQ. No matter the backlash, no matter the criticism, if you embrace a transgender influencer or gay advocate or someone similar, you have to stick with them no matter what they throw at you. It's just part of the game now.
So this is really quite incredible, and underscores the success of the Bud Light boycott:
Anheuser-Busch CEO Michel Doukeris addressed the Bud Light controversy on an earnings call with investors Thursday, downplaying the brand's partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney that prompted a boycott from conservatives. ...
"We need to clarify the facts that this was one camp, one influencer, one post and not a campaign," Doukeris said.
Dude is down on his knees like:
So why is he doing this? Why is this guy violating one of the basic principles of woke corporate management in the 21st century? Why would he do such an insanely risky thing?
Well, need I remind you that his company is absolutely and completely hemorrhaging money right now:
Sales are down over 25%. That kind of collapse is just catastrophic, especially for the highly competitive, low-margin beer industry.
Moreover, in this one specific instance, there's little reason for him to try and cozy up to the transgender lobby. Dylan Mulvaney is creepy. He's a weird, obviously unwell dude. He's (hopefully) got people in his life who love and care about him, but the only people with any professional allegiance to him at this point are his doctors and Drew Barrymore. Nobody wants to stand by him.
So yes, Bud Light is running for the hills on this. You can't blame them. And you can pretty well hear the jaw-clenched, grim, joyless resolve in Doukeris's voice:
"We believe we have the experience, the resources and the partners to manage this. And our four-year growth outlook is unchanged," Doukeris said.
Good luck, Bud Light. You will need it, cuz I'm still not drinking your beer.
What AB did can’t be undone.
The mindset at AB that did the Dylan Mulvaney ads, is still at the company. The woke management is still there, and if and when the controversy subsides, they would return to their woke policies and advertising.
AB needs to be a lesson for the rest of the woke corporations around the country.
I’m not a big beer drinker. But I’ve heard there has been a lot more competition in beer markets in recent years, and that local microbrew beers have become very popular.
The former drinkers of Bud Light may find they like some other brand more, amd never come back.
Their woke leaders have destroyed a great American beer brand. Bud Light has never been a great American beer.
This limp dishrag NEVER apologized to the millions of Americans his company offended.
These folx never learn...
I foresee no let up in the Bud Light boycott.
The damage is done and may be irreversible.
The next quarters earnings will be lower than the past one..................
The US Navy has also joined the tranny death march.
That is brilliant. I'm gonna use that.
Well, AB makes non-alcoholic beer too. So you can buy a Miller Sharp’s non-alcoholic beer and participate too :)
What pisses me off about that statement is there is zero accountability. Zero ownership. Their leadership is gutless. If they were truly unaware, they’re useless. If they were aware but ashamed to admit it, they’re liars. Either way, the entirety of leadership at that company should be fired and replaced with principled people, regardless of side they choose.
Man up for Godsake.
Officially that is what they said. I wonder how many people really believe that official explanation. I wonder how many people in Management in Anheuser-Busch, actually believe what they’re telling the public.
And yet, they still don't go so far to say that Mulvaney does not represent their corporate values. They are still trying to thread the needle by not offending the LGBT crazies and admitting they made a mistake.
The only way out for AB is to say that they made a mistake, and Dulvaney's activities are an insult to real women.
They have to pick a side, and they think they can just wait this out by taking the position that they don't want to pick a side.
I feel bad for the clydesdales.
My grandson loves fire engines and we were watching Station 19 and next thing I know, two men are kissing in bed, which raised questions I shouldn't have to answer on a prime-time TV show. Ten minutes later on the same show, two women are kissing in bed. I guess the producers of Station 19 feel they have to cover all bases. It seems that every new show must have at least one gay couple.
I just don't watch them anymore.
I’d hit it.
“ And officially, they said that some outside marketing firm actually performed this action, and that Anheuser-Busch management had no knowledge of, and no approval of doing anything , relating to Dylan Mulvaney.”
We all saw the video from the dingbat marketer responsible for it. She was bragging about it. And no one buys the notion that senior execs did not sign off on it. They should have just admitted their mistake. Now they are forever Transhouser Bush. Might as well swap the Clydesdales for rainbow colored poodles.
Nobody wants to spend money to be taken for granted, insulted, teased and demeaned. And that’s what the young women at ABI marketing did. No one owes them forgiveness, money, or employment.
“The woke management is still there, and if and when the controversy subsides, they would return to their woke policies and advertising.”
“Pride” month is just 4 weeks away. We’ll see if the Bud rainbow bottles make an appearance again this year. Should be an interesting test.
He 'influenced' them a little more than they expected.....................
I’ve gotten pushback on this, but I see this situation analogous to a cheating spouse. It is a betrayal that MIGHT be forgiven, but will never be truly forgotten and will have permanently tarnished the relationship.
As in the cheating, there is virtually nothing the perpetrator can do to make it right.
I have a friend who just went through a divorce because his wife cheated on him. While he still loves her, he cannot live with her because every time he looks at her, he imagines her having sex with this other guy. He just can’t unthink it.
We will not be able to unthink the Bud Light can with that creature on it. Period.
Could we forgive them? Maybe. Will I still have a nasty gut reaction every time I see a Bud Light can? Absolutely.
Sorry, the Clydesdales are headed to the glue factory. And as they said in Goodfellas, “there wasn’t nothing we could do about it”.
