In response to a new law that requires porn sites to verify users’ ages, Pornhub has completely disabled its websites for people located in Utah.
As of today, anyone accessing Pornhub from a Utah-based IP address doesn’t see the Pornhub homepage, but instead is met with a video of Cherie DeVille, adult performer and member of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee, explaining that they won’t be able to visit the site.

We have blockchain. It could be done.
It’s not limited to pornhub.

You want to discourage behavior? The last thing you should do is try to ban or block it. Common sense.
States are working hard to discourage abortion by banning it or blocking it.
And guess what? It's working!
So why not ban or block porn? These evils cannot go unchecked.
So? Porn sites in Russia and The Ukraine don’t give a fig about Utah laws.
Ah, that’s why prohibition and pot laws work so well!
If you really want to discourage bad behavior you don’t waste time trying to ban it, which will only increase demand. Instead you tax it or make it expensive. Banning cigarette ads and putting labels on the packages had some effect but what really did it was raising the price. When a DUI cost you a few hundred bucks people kept right on drinking and driving, but when it ended up costing thousand of dollars, losing your license, and jacking your insurance rates through the roof, people changed their behavior. Many other examples exist...
Oh they aren’t even doing that. All they are asking for is that viewers of internet porn verify that they are not children, which is the law from sea to shining sea. It’s pornhub that decided to cut off the virtual nookie until they get their way!
It will be interesting to see how they do deal with that.
Except it’s not actually possible. That’s the fun of the internet. Any age verification method you use can be gotten around. As can this “block”, VPN can make you be “from” anywhere.
People under 18 can have credit cards. And they can always use somebody else’s.
Oh, I see. You’re talking about Sin Taxes.
Where the government grows bigger and larger by profiting off social and moral evils like gambling, tobacco, prostitution, marijuana, and now porn.
No Thanks.
Now if you mean criminalizing these destructive ideals like drunk driving or pornography - then yeah. I’m on board.
The VPN can certainly be gotten around easily. That is coming from pornhub and undoubtedly that calculation went into this hissy fit of theirs.
Utah has a long history of ridiculous virtue signaling. None of the stupid laws they pass ever achieve anything. But they can stand up in Church and show how righteous they are.
Louisiana beat Utah to it, and pornhub opted in that case to comply.
Pretty much where we are as a People
Looks like Pac West is the next bank that gets absorbed into a too big to fail Wall Street Bank
It’s not a hissy fit. It’s recognizing they can’t guarantee compliance with the law, and avoiding the bad situation. Because in the end you NEVER really know the age of someone on the web. EVER.
Well, it might be something worse than a hissy fit if they comply with “the big easy”’s law and instead single out the Mormons...
Or Free Republic Op.
Better believe that this site is one prime monitored site on the internet.
The meaning big brother is watching pertains to this site as well as all social conservative sites.
Another reason to ban child mutilation and Sexual education. No more pornhub, at least until someone invents a way to spoof locations. That time is far away I fear, so we will have to do other things while seated on the toyalet.
