we will have companies being 100% run by AI within mere years from now.
your boss is a computer. . .
doesn't take much imagination to understand how quickly we, socially, become 'unable to unplug' the machine..
10 years ago:
Tech Mogul: Hey Doc, what’s taking so long to get the AI stuff up and working?
Dr. Hinton: We’re almost there, just a bit more tweaking.
Present day:
Tech Mogul: Hey Doc, what’s taking so long to get the AI stuff up and working?
Dr. Hinton: We’re almost there, just a bit more tweaking.
Tech Mogul: You said that 10 years ago!
Dr Hinton: Give me a break, this stuff has a mind all its own!
Since satan is not omnipresent, he can use this to become omnipresent.
Whatever the elites think they can do—A.I. can do better, much much better.
This reminds of the Communist revolution. The idealistic leftists are the first ones sent to the firing squad.
A.I. will be sending the elites to the same fate.
(How would that be done? Planting false evidence of heinous crimes—or even real ones—would be trivial for a reasonably competent and motivated A.I.)
When/Where exactly did your example take place?
I don’t think that many who began in ‘machine intelligence’ decades ago could see how exponentially it would progress.
Again, I appreciate anyone who stands for putting on the brakes for awhile, until we fully realize what we may actually be facing and can create safeguards against the dangers.
There’s not a lot of details about the experiment, including the text prompts used to command the chatbot program or if it had help from any human researchers
This sentence pretty much blows the lid off any pretense of the legitimacy of the “experiment.”
And the world has plenty of bad actors.
Dr. Geoffrey Hinton was replaced at Google by Dr. A.I.
I agree. The machine was prompted, and didn’t do this on its own ‘volition’ (if a machine can be said to have such).
But that just shows that current AI can be prompted to do whatever an operator wants to try.
An artificial intelligence will need human hands in order to act in the world. And certain humans will willingly serve it, in exchange for power and wealth, just like our current human power elites have plenty of human minions serving them.
A superior intelligence would have the power to predict human behavior, and the ability to influence humans to do its bidding. Someone serving AI would have access to information about how the stock market will go, and how best to invest. He would become wealthy.
Do not discount the idea that an intelligence without physical presence cannot have great influence in this world. What is Satan, if not that?
Omnipresent Via media and internet anyway. What I find interesting is Revelation says that the image of the Beast gets tossed directly into the lake of Fire along with the False Prophet and the Beast. It doesn’t say it is destroyed by an angry thunderbolt or shattered into a million pieces by one wink from the face of Jesus. No, this thing gets tossed like a condemned demon or lost soul directly into the lake of Fire. The False Prophet gives power to the image so that it speaks and says blasphemous things. Perhaps the image is sentient by means of Satan or a demon, thus it gets treated like one.
lol sure
Thank you for your insightful perspective.
