LOL! Anheuser-Busch Really Thinks This Move Can Save Them After The Bud-Lite Ad Fiasco
PJ Media ^ | 04/24/2023 | Matt Margolis

Anheuser-Busch reportedly lost more than $6 billion in value after its disastrous decision to partner with trans narcissist Dylan Mulvaney. If there was anything clear from this move, it is that Bud Light’s VP of marketing, Alissa Heinerscheid, who was responsible for the debacle, wanted to push a social agenda rather than cater to it customers base.

“Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach,” Heinerscheid said in a podcast interview in late March.

In her mind, hiring a man who pretends to be a little girl was the approach Bud Light needed to expand its customer base. Instead, Heinerscheid succeeded in shrinking it, losing billions of dollars in the process. As a result, both Heinerscheid and her superior Daniel Blake have been put on a leave of absence in response to the backlash.

“Given the circumstances, Alissa has decided to take a leave of absence which we support,” an Anheuser-Busch spokesperson said. “Daniel has also decided to take a leave of absence.”

However, sources told The Wall Street Journal that the decision to leave was not voluntary.

The company’s immediate response to the backlash was to downplay its relationship with Mulvaney, claiming the company “works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics.”

That explanation failed to quell the backlash, and Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth later issued a statement insisting that the company “never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.”

Again, the situation for Anheuser-Busch did not get better, and demand for the beer plummeted.

Fox News reports that the company has also “hired two consultants with experience in Washington, D.C.’s, conservative circles to advise the brand moving forward.”

But this strategy is not going to work. Even Donald Trump Jr. defended the company, arguing that Anheuser-Busch was too “iconic” to be boycotted and that it mostly donates to Republicans, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The damage has been done.

Can anything save Bud Light? I have no doubt that they’ll recover slightly in time, but the damage to the brand has been done. A change in leadership and hiring D.C.-based consultants won’t fix it.

“Influencing” conservatives is like trying to herd cats.

They stuck our nose in their toxic waste pile and the stench is going to stink regardless of what any “influencer” has to say about it.

There is a deeper philosophical issue here.

The corporations think they can manipulate people as if they were pieces of data on a computer.

We need to prove them wrong—and stand up for our humanity.

That is what is at stake here.

So they need “two consultants who undersand conservatives” to figure out how stupid their campaign is? Their rop management really are delusional and should be looking for work sweeping the streets. All they needed to do was to ask the first two people they could find on the street whether their proposed campaign was a good idea, and if not, why. The advertising industry should be disbanded. Retrain them to do something useful to society.

Not a penny to any of their brands ever again.

Bud light, like just about all other light beers, tastes like watered down beer. It’s basically a beer you buy when you’re going to drink a lot of it, and you’re watching your calories. You order a bucket of it.

IOWs, the difference between one brand and the other is marketing, and marketing of light beers was always intended to take the stigma out of it being a “light” beer.

Had it been a non-light beer with a distinct following, e.g. Coors, or PBR, or even plain Budweiser, because of its taste, they might have been able to weather this.

But, men drink Bud Light because their Dad drank it, or because you started drinking it, and it’s your brand,

So, stripping away the cover, to buy it is gone.

No way, now how any guy is ordering Bud Light ever again, unless he’s a dumb ass and doesn’t know what’s been going on.

You live by the ad, your die by the ad.

Putting people on leave of absence is not the same as firing them.

All a leave of absence does is get them out of the way temporarily so they can be snuck back in once the dust settles.

The only way, they come back maybe...is if they get some high profile guys to come back to it, starting with Kid Rock and others.

Sport héros start drinking it....

In the end, doing the same fratty ads they did before.

But the beer sucks Moose Piss....so there’s no reason for it to come back.

Maybe the best thing is to bury it. Stop making it, and replace it with something else.

Admit you pissed us all off.

Tip of the hat to FReeper PROCON for this one:

This is why hiring "two consultants with experience in Washington, D.C.'s conservative circles" was even necessary. Note the "diversity" in that gaggle of yuppies? Me neither.

So PJ Media uses the promo code “WOKE” for the VIP access they are trying sell at the end of the article? Anyone see the irony there? Did they even read the article? Yeah, like I’m going to declare WOKE for anything.

I started because it is brewed to be low in purines, so I and other gout sufferers can still drink beer.

Will try Guiness now.

The only brewery that’s ever come close to erasing that stigma was Amstel, IMO. For a while they ran an ad touting that Amstel Light had won some competition. Citing that winning wasn’t unusual for them, they continued “What WAS unusual is that it wasn’t a light beer competition.”

Brilliant.

The drop in stock value is interesting but I’d much rather see actual numbers for sales losses.

That’s interesting. With the American lights it was always the marketing and never about the beer.

Heineken NON Alcoholic beer is great, esp on ice.
