Biden admin preparing major crackdown on power plants that fuel nation's grid

The Biden administration is reportedly finalizing a proposal that would force fossil fuel-fired power plants to substantially curb emissions or utilize costly carbon capture technology.

The proposal — which will soon be released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — is expected to require coal- and natural gas-fired power plants to cut or capture the vast majority of their carbon dioxide emissions by 2040, The New York Times reported on Saturday, citing officials briefed on a draft of the plan. The regulation, if finalized, would represent the first-ever federal action curbing power plant emissions.

"EPA cannot comment because the proposals are currently under interagency review," EPA spokesperson Maria Michalos told Fox News Digital in a statement.

"But we have been clear from the start that we will use all of our legally-upheld tools, grounded in decades-old bipartisan laws, to address dangerous air pollution and protect the air our children breathe today and for generations to come," Michalos said.

Are you talking about the Moscow, Ohio plant? It was 90% complete as nuclear before being forced to be converted to coal in the early 80s. It closed in August and is 20 miles as the crow flies from my house.

And once again without an act of congress. Without representation. If the USSC was worth a fart then they would put and end to all this unconstitutional garbage.

The USSC said last summer that the EPA doesn't have the power to regulate carbon emissions.

Methane is worse than CO2? Methane makes up 17/100,000 of 1% of the atmosphere. CO2 is the real killer. It’s 4/100 of 1%. The climate scaremongers never discuss the statistics. What if all cows were slaughtered, what percentage of the atmosphere would methane become? (Crickets)

Obama promised to make coal fired production of electricity too expensive for the plants to operate.
He is carrying out his promise.
Biden is just the sock puppet to take the blame.

"fossil fuel-fired power plants to substantially curb emissions or utilize costly carbon capture technology"

This is a handout to companies like Exxon, which have invested substantial dollars in carbon capture processes.

Yup, that’s the plan.

This needs to go back to the legislative branch, not career government employees in some regulatory agency.

That would not include the Legislative branch as they have clearly with a few exceptions, become the regulatory agency for career government employees. Thus they are the problem.
