Federal prosecutors have considered charging Hunter Biden with three tax crimes and a charge related to a gun purchase, said two sources familiar with the matter.
The possible charges are two misdemeanor counts for failure to file taxes, a single felony count of tax evasion related to a business expense for one year of taxes, and the gun charge, also a potential felony.
Two senior law enforcement sources told NBC News about "growing frustration" inside the FBI because investigators finished the bulk of their work on the case about a year ago. A senior law enforcement source said the IRS finished its investigation more than a year ago.

In contrast, Eliot Spitzer, former NY Governor, was charged by a U.S. DA with Federal Felony Money Laundering for withdrawing $200 from an ATM to pay a call girl.
It was a long stretch to make it a Federal Felony. The U.S. D.A. interpreted using cash in the commission of a crime to be money laundering because it was done to avoid a credit card paper trail. Contrast that with the way Hunter Biden has been treated.

“and the gun charge, also a potential felony.” Lying on a Federal Form 4473 about not being a user of illegal drugs when buying a pistol. Open and shut case, he filled out the form himself and dated and signed it. It is a felony.
Meanwhile, the BATF has been instructed to crack down on law abiding gun dealers using a ‘no tolerance’ policy when inspecting dealer records. This means if a dealer misspells a name, leaves off a middle initial or puts a period in the wrong place, the BATF is going to yank their license. But Hunter gets a pass, inspite of the fact he lied and they have it in his own handwriting.
Are they trying to run out the statutes of limitations?
