First German Patriot air defense missile system delivered to Ukraine
Army Recognition (Germany) ^ | 19 APRIL 2023 | Army Recognition (Germany)

On April 18, 2023, the German government published an updated document detailing the list of military equipment provided to Ukraine. This release confirmed that the first German Patriot air defense missile system has been successfully delivered to Ukraine.

On January 5, 2023, a joint statement was released by the United States and Germany announcing that Germany will supply Ukraine with armored personnel carriers and a Patriot missile battery.

Citing information from the German Federal Foreign Office, Since the outbreak of the war, the German Government has made available more than 14.2 billion euros in bilateral support for Ukraine; this aid includes a substantial winter assistance program, helping those who have fled Ukraine, and assisting efforts to investigate war crimes as well as humanitarian mine clearance operations.

Germany is therefore supporting Ukraine by supplying arms and equipment from its German army (Bundeswehr) military inventory, as well as from defense industry deliveries that are paid for with funds from the German Government’s budget.

Germany is also the largest contributor to the refinancing fund of the European Peace Facility (EPF), which so far has enabled the provision of 3.1 billion euros from across Europe; these funds are to be made available between 2022 and 2026, to support the delivery of military equipment from EU.

According to our source, the German armed forces have a total of 30 launcher units of the Patriot PAC-3 air defense missile system.

The M902 Patriot PAC-3 is a surface-to-air missile system developed by the United States to defend against incoming ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aircraft. It is an upgraded version of the Patriot missile system, with a focus on enhanced capabilities to intercept ballistic missiles.

The PAC-3 missile is designed to intercept incoming targets in the terminal phase of flight, meaning it is intended to destroy the target closer to its intended impact point. This is different from earlier versions of the Patriot missile, which were designed to intercept targets in the mid-course phase of flight.

The PAC-3 missile has a range of approximately 20 km (12.4 miles) and is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 5. It uses a hit-to-kill interceptor, which means that it destroys its target by colliding with it.

The M902 Patriot PAC-3 system consists of a launcher, a control station, and up to 16 missiles. The launcher can be transported by truck, trailer, or rail and can be operated by a crew of three.

They’ll be receiving more batteries. Ukrainian soldiers were trained on Patriot systems here, in the States, by the U.S. Army.

That is, the Ukrainians will be receiving more Patriot batteries. Each battery includes eight launchers, each of which holds four missiles ready to fire.

The efficacy of US Patriot systems in the Ukraine will be interesting given their less than stellar performance in Saudi Arabia (essentially under US/ UK contract employees and not natives) and Israel (where it is being supplanted by the organically developed David’s Sling) + in other contexts (Turkey- where they employed the largely superior S400 system which only US diplomatic threats have kept from other export markets). The USA defense industry should not be quite so eager to employ their products in battlefield use where there shortcomings become more apparent and adversely affect foreign contracts if perform poorly- why the F16 Block 70/72 will almost certainly not be employed- demonstrable weakness against a superb air defense (Russia is widely recognized as top tier in air defense, whereas USA has ossified as our country fights wars against defenseless third worlders) is not a sales pitch LOL. Things have worked out pretty well in terms of selling USA products to replace outdated Soviet stocks sent to the Ukraine to be destroyed; the Patriot employment is interesting but will likely be downplayed as it performs within historical norms.

We give them to Germany for their defense

Firstly - the Germans BOUGHT the patriot air defense systems -- we didn't "give it to them"

Secondly - "for Germany's defense" -- who does Germany need to defend itself from? France? NAH; Poland? NAH; Russia? YEAH

To give the Ukrainians a means to keep the Russians away IS helping German defense

Actually, it is “our circus” - a preventative measure.

By preventing Russia from conquering a country by military means we
1. prevent a wider conflagration
2. thereby saving thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars
3. giving a warning to everyone else (hello China) that military conquest is not acceptable in the 21st century (fyi mainland China can easily conquer Taiwan economically by the middle of this century as Taiwan already does 40% of its trade with the mainland and is highly tied to it already)

And how is the 35K American troops relevant to your statement #2 "We give them to Germany for their defense and they give it to the Ukies.....Clever...."

Or to my post #7 "To give the Ukrainians a means to keep the Russians away IS helping German defense"

?

Hillarious. Russia had largely de-armed except and scaled down their military due to an economy that was gutted by Clintonites and the Western parasite funders like Bill Browder, until USA/ NATO machinations in Georgia (purportedly USA also funded the brutal and terrorist Chechen insurgencies which fits with the comportment of the regime) and then the Ukraine, as well as on the peripheries in Central Asia and the Caucasus. You vastly overestimate USA military might- the Biden regime and their USA cheerleaders (including on this site) are a malevolent and stupid lot, but are they so stupid as to destroy the last remaining institution of the heritage USA, the myth of USA military superiority? We shall see. USA/ NATO defeat in the Ukraine is an inevitability, but important to keep a bit of separation lest culpability fall where its due (prefumed princes and 1600). This search for a W is getting mad desperate though- especially after Sudanese putsch seems to be failing- GOPe (they earn the appellation the stupid party) seems to be focusing on Mexico intervention (which is at least somewhat justified if impracticable).

“”Russia had largely de-armed” — nope. It had no money to keep up its weapons.

Then Putin came and more importantly the oil price rise (which also raised Chavez) came.

So that means you are against the USA Patriot act? and you oppose a ban on sanctuary cities?

Bide is a chump a paedochump, and he was FORCED to support Ukraine starting from March

Before Feb he was ready to give up Ukraine and he even tried to get their president out so Putin could take over. But the Ukrainians fought the invaders and Brand was forced to do something.

I worked at Raytheon for 35 years. Virtually all foreign purchases were Foreign Military Sales. (FMS). Raytheon sold them to the United States DoD, who resold them to foreign customers (end users) for substantial premiums. Foreign governments indirectly funded a lot of the Patriot development over the past 40 years. When sold to a foreign user, there are strings attached, the foreign customers agree not to transfer them to a third party without U.S. approval.

At the end of Cold War South Korean purchased a number of units from Germany and Japan. The units were shipped to the U.S. for factory refurbishment. The German and Japanese units came back in better condition than when they were arrived.

Yes I oppose the patriot act. It is an egregious government over-reach. It should be repealed.

If Biden was Truly opposed to sanctuary cities he would have reined them in with one of his myriad of executive orders. It does not matter what he said years ago. Look at what he does today. You cannot look at the open border where Biden is allowing an army of illegals to invade his own country and honestly say he supports enforcing federal immigration law. He wants the overthrow and elimination of the US, it culture and people. He could not care less about sanctuary cities.

He applies Federal law in a partial and partisan manner in ways that damage his adversaries but never harm his party. He has completed the weaponization of the government against anyone who disagrees with him.

The Ukraine was Biden’s personal money laundering ATM I doubt he wanted to lose it. He supports Ukraine because he, his son, and family made millions off the corrupt government there. His previous position was probably a feint to confuse fools. If not that, then I do not think he, in his stupidity realized the extent of Russia’s ambition.

There is not one issue, not ONE, where Biden is not worse than Putin or Xi. That is a horrible true to say, but it is the truth. Just the not only acceptance, but open promotion perversely, child abuse and blatant moral evil is enough make him the worse leader of any nation since at least Idi Amin, maybe Caligula.

Biden is a liar, he is a sexual deviant, he is a child molester, he is petty, vindictive, a bully, venal, greedy, incompetent, and evil. Not to mention the man is senile. He is example 1A of the Dunning-Kruger Effect. His regime is illegitimate. He must be opposed in every action. He cannot be worked with. He is the worst possible combination of vices imaginable in a President.

Biden is so throughly evil, so completely compromised, so incredibly incompetent that no price is too great to pay to remove him, his party, his followers from power. That includes sacrificing the Ukraine, all of it if need be.

So yeah, if Biden is for them I am against them. It is really that simple.
