There were at least 582 executions in Iran last year - the highest since 2015 .
Authorities cracked down on those protesting against death of Mahsa Amini .
Amini died in custody after being arrested for allegedly breaching dress code.
Human rights groups have condemned Iran's 'execution machine' which is spreading fear among protesters after revealing at least 582 prisoners were hanged in 2022.
The shocking new figures show Iran hanged 75 per cent more people in 2022 than the year before, according to the report by Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR) and Paris-based Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM).
The figure of 582 executions, which is the highest in Iran since 2015, is well above the 333 carried out in 2021.
Protests and riots have engulfed Iran since 22-year-old ethnic Kurd Mahsa Amini died in police custody in Tehran in September 2022. She had been arrested for allegedly breaching the country's strict dress codes for women.
....
Earlier this month, horrifying footage showed a man pouring yoghurt over the heads of two Iranian women who entered a shop without wearing hijabs. They were then arrested for flouting the country's strict dress code.
And last month, rights group Amnesty International reported that children as young as 12 have been subjected to rape, electrocution and flogging for their involvement in the nationwide protests.

They should upgrade to the covid shot......more bang for the buck
One of the three was a woman. She was dressed in one of those black burlap sacks that you see in moslem countries. As she was up there she was writhing furiously for about a minute (the two guys were still from the start). It was disgusting.
Another video showed a young guy standing on the podium,a rope around his neck, smiling broadly at the huge crowd. And then they kicked the stool out from under him and he was finished. Also disgusting.
the hang gays don’t they
If anyone wonders why a second amendment is important, Iran is but one good explanation. It’s pretty obvious that the population of Iran is not the problem. The regime is the problem but they have almost all the guns.
Yup...they also hang “infidels”...protesters...
Sort of the way that the US DOJ uses endless imprisonment in notorious jails to terrify American citizens.
Of the 28 members of minorities executed in 2023, 19 were convicted of drug-related offences, seven of murder, and two of overly broad and vaguely worded charges of “spreading corruption on earth” (efsad-e fel arz) and/or “enmity against God” (moharebeh) that do not meet the principle of legality.
Governments always use intimidation to get their populations in line. We see it here in the U.S.
Where does the US acquire one of these “execution machines”?
Can they be made to operate on renewable energy sources? (Ironic, huh?)
This is the end state that democrats (including all their voters) want in the US.
Aren’t these the chimps that O’Bama sent the pallets of money to to buy the rope?
“Long-drop” hanging gets a bad rap but thanks to people like Albert Pierrepoint , who hanged several hundred Brits, it has evolved into a finely-tuned science. It causes instant unconsciousness and death by hypoxia in minutes.
What the Iranians do? It’s cruel, barbarous, and sadistic. They use a construction crane for a gallows. Sometimes the victim is stood on a chair, which then is kicked out from under them, resulting in a fall of maybe a foot. Sometimes they put the noose around the victim’s neck and wench them off the ground. In both cases they’re left to dangle and strangle for 20-30 minutes.
But I think in all cases they’re sedated (and thank goodness for small mercies) because none I’ve seen thrash around in panic. There’s a rumor that the Saudis also sedate those about to be beheaded. Makes them easier to handle in the run-up to the job, and serves as an object lesson to the masses because the victim appears to have submitted to their fate (and “Islam” translates to “submission”).
