Poll Ron DeSantis Support Drops Below 20% While Trump Surges After Indictment

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is polling under 20 percent in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary field after former President Donald Trump received a surge in the polls when a New York grand jury voted to indict him last week.

Reuters surveyed 706 U.S. adults from March 31 to April 3, just days after a New York grand jury voted to indict the former president. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump focuses on his alleged role in paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money.

March 20: • Trump — 44% (+14) • DeSantis — 30%

APRIL 3: • Trump — 48% (+29) • DeSantis — 19%

I know, not a big sample, and ....

"desantis hasn't said he's running..................yet"

"Polls mean nothing now. Just wait til desantis declares he's running...."

and of course, those that say "They've got Trump now! He won't get out of it this time", and desantis is just stepping in as the republican candidate...

desantis ran again as governor for 4 years. Now it looks like he wants his cake, and eat it too, by being governor and if he doesn't win as a republican presidential candidate, stay as governor instead of having to quit.

The sooner desantis announces he's running for president, the sooner people realize desantis is actually a Jeb2.0. deep swamp politician backed by the swamp, GOPe big money and hedge fund people.

Looks like Ron’s supporters calling MAGA a cult is not working?

At this point, I wouldn’t choose DeSantis over Biden. Sorry, they are all the same. The old “left” “right” wars are meaningless as long as crooks and globalist are the only ones allowed to hold power.

100%. I remember when Biden passed constitutional carry and stood up to the largest woke entertainment corporation on the face of the earth.

Oh, wait.

Ron is learning a lesson about being disloyal and trying to dry-hump a corpse before there’s a corpse.

Very disappointing.

With this government, I am afraid that Trump will be shot while ‘trying to escape’ - That is how they do it in 3rd world countries, or perhaps he will hang himself in his jail cell, like Epstein.

The fringe crazies are certainly all lined up behind Trump. That’s not an “endorsement” he should want.

And yet with a 100% name recognition and as the only real candidate in the race, there's still greater than 50% who do not support him.

Unfortunately, I believe the nomination is Trump's to lose. A large plurality of GOP primary voters no longer care about winning elections or advancing conservatism.

Trump will win handily the GOP nomination only to get trounced in the general election and people here will cry that it was stolen even though nothing was put in place to prevent this.

Desantis fluffers will just have to stroke harder in order to stiffen support for their “mans”.

People are already realizing JEB ain’t as advertised.

The more he is pushed the lower he polls.

I don’t hate the man, but the more I see of him, the more obvious it is he’s not being authentic.

This guys beholden to the establishment system and donors, which is why it takes him days to respond to anything and then walks back things that don’t jive with the UNIPARTY narrative.

Said it before, say it again...

Trump, is the Republican Nominee, and it won’t even be close .

Short of a massive black swan event, that’s reality.

His base is huge, motivated, and loyal and far larger than anything else going on in Politics today. There is no one in the GOP Primary that has any shot of beating him at the ballot box, and it won’t even be close.

DeSantis showed who he answers too a few weeks ago when Team Bush made him correct his views on the Ukraine scam. He’s a squish on the National level for 2024 because he lacks the money without the neocon GOPe’s donors to run a successful multi-state primary campaign. Trump has the base and DeSantis will ruin his chances for 2028 if he continues to be a Bush puppet.

I am 100% for Trump, and hope DeSantis continues doing his stellar job as Governor of Florida. If DeSantis does challenge Trump, I think it will go nowhere, for three reasons.

1) Trump is a proven success - he’s already done it.
2) The populist MAGA movement is Trump’s movement - he inspired it - he is the obvious charismatic leader.
3) For 80 million Republicans who had the 2020 election stolen from them, and endured 6 years of impeachment and “insurrection” hoaxes, this is very personal - it is symbolic - it has to be Trump who takes back the White House from these imposters - to make a point. Anyone else and it would feel like we rolled over and let them steal it with no consequence.

Having said all that - I find it amazing that the Democrats can indict our presumed nominee on bogus charges, and the only response from Republicans is to gloat over Trump’s lead over DeSantis!

We need to stop the infighting and focus on the enemy that is on the verge of destroying the Republic - and it’s NOT DeSantis!

I really like Ron, but he needs to save his chance at the White House for 2028. Perhaps Trump will team up with him as the VP?

That would be an unstoppable power team!
