Last August, Daysia Holiday decided to try one more time to join the Army.
She’d taken the academic test and failed three times. So, when she was offered a slot in a new Army prep course to help improve her scores and qualify for basic training, she jumped at the chance.
Seven months later, Pvt. 2nd Class Holiday is a proud graduate of Army basic training, and is finishing her advanced instruction at Fort Lee, Virginia, to become a power generation specialist who will maintain engines and other equipment for the service.
Holiday is an early beneficiary of the new program, which gives lower-performing recruits up to 90 days of academic or fitness instruction to help them meet military standards. In place for only eight months, it is already making a significant difference for both the Army and those who want to serve in it.
So far, 5,400 soldiers have made it through the prep course since it started in August at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. That’s an important boost since the Army fell dramatically short of its recruiting goals last year, due to low unemployment and general wariness about military service. And at least one other military service, the Navy, took notice and is setting up a similar course.

Sort of like the “Project 100,000” of the Vietnam era.
Shades of McNamara’s “100,000 Project ” in the 1960s.
McNamara idiots.
Be all you can’t be....................................
Failed 3 times? That’s quite an achievement.
The decline cannot be denied.
What will these soldiers do when they find out the enemy shoots at them?
I read where the millennials, twinkies, Snowflakes and zeros are very sensitive and usually wet and mess their pants if you raise your voice around them. Most of the males hate themselves because they were born with a penis. They’ll make great soldiers. ROTFL!!!
Failed the academic test 3 times? I’m guessing her IQ is below 80.
Prep school to join the Army. ROTFLMAO.
And Sgt King also enjoyed taking us behind the barracks and beating the snot out of us.
Lastly,we had a "Private Pyle" in our platoon. There's no way that he should have been in the military! But they rode him so hard that he went AWOL a couple of days before graduation.
Times have changed in some ways...but not in others.
What in hell is a Private SECOND Class?
“become a power generation specialist who will maintain engines and other equipment for the service.“
After failing the intelligence test three times? I can see taking a healthy young, mentally challenged guy to be an infantryman. The Pentagon is working hard to maintain a pool of potential globalist cannon fodder. It won’t work. The previous times America instituted the draft it was no more popular than it is today. There are many on FR who would support drafting and marching off your cannon fodder grandson to protect Uke corruption.
Is that like a Corporal-Captain?
The decline cannot be denied.

Its here to stay. Standards of any kind are so yesterday. And racist. /sarc
Sounds more like the movie "Tribes", with Darren McGavin and Jan Michael Vincent.
Stands are flexible. In ‘69 they wanted me to go to OCS...not because I was a genius,or a born leader, but because they needed warm bodies.
I have no problem with the army giving recruits the education that our failed Democrat controlled education system gave. It should be a part, though, of a full-scale effort to get rid of the public education system we have today and get one that works properly. That would have to start with vouchers for parents to spend public school money on non-failing schools.
