More states around America are moving toward mandating the use of electric vehicles in an effort to “end fossil fuels.” But all of those vehicles have to be recharged on a regular basis. People with the ability to do so have primarily been charging their vehicles at home with slower Level 1 or Level 2 home chargers using a household outlet. But people living in some apartments don’t have that option and people who regularly take longer trips have to rely on the availability of commercial Level 3 fast chargers. The Boston Globe recently conducted an investigation to find out just how many such charging stations are available and how well they work. The results were nowhere near as great as the government would have you believe.

They know the downsides of EVs will not affect them at all, for they will be exempt from any of those downsides.
Lots of copper wire for the meth addicts, unless they do it wrong and fry themselves.
That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.
Just another example how government can’t do anything right. America didn’t need government to build gas stations as automobiles became widely used. I don’t know the inner workings of this EV stuff, market demand and so on, but I have to think if there was a way for private businesses to make a profit, there would be just about the right number of charging stations at the appropriate locations to keep EVs running.
Faster recharging kills the life of the batteries and they are hiding that factor.
EVs: propelled by electricity gotten primarily from the burning of coal, natural gas and other Fossil Fuels with a smaller contribution from nuclear power.
EVs are not “green” and won’t be for the foreseeable future.
Supply and demand by the market usually provides what is needed by the consumers. Government interference to create a demand is not needed if a product is what the consumers want. Private companies and their investors will provide it according to the evidenced demand. That principle has held true since the beginning of time.
Very eloquent
we drive from the oc to vegas and back a few times a year and its so funny all those evs waiting to charge up i mean its nuts baker is the funniest
In time the EV will mature. The idea it’s ready to go
prime time by 2030 or 2035, is just fruitcake territory.
What’s more, everyone knows it.
It may be possible by 2050-2070, but only if the powers
that be get off their asses and develop enough energy to
power them up.
Right now it’s comical seeing leaders demand 2035, not
knowing the slightest things that will allow that to
happen. These people are daydreaming and thinking it’s
reality.
It isn’t.
I use Energize America. There are three fast chargers
where I charge up, and one to three of them are out of
order on a frequent basis.
The system doesn’t recognize me at times. It won’t
lock onto my care and charge.
Then when you do get things working, everyone decides
to charge to 100%. This not only hurts the battery,
that last 10% takes about 1/3 as long as all the charge
they have to that point, to load up.
It’s a massive delay.
Night before last I charged up. One guy with a new
BMW had left his car to charge. He let the car sit for
20 minutes after it was fully charged, thus blocking
anyone else from using the charger.
Honestly, we have some of the most ignorant rude people
on the planet these days.
Dendrites form on the cells when you charge all the
way to 100% all the time. It cuts down on the longevity
of your battery.
EV charging stations should be required to be powered by windmills and solar panels.
Shoking!!
Electricity rates are going up. Heard the northeast recently experienced a 20 to 25% increase. FL is holding close to the line for now.
Those higher rates will not reduce and only increase.
Good luck to all the tree huggers.
Better hope the government the pray to doesnt cut their pension too.
Exactly right. The best thing for the government to do about EV vehicles is ... nothing.
Our prosperity come from capitalism and capitalism would solve the problems given the chance.
But Democrats want control, not solutions.
“EV charging stations should be required to be powered by windmills and solar panels.”
____
To ask the question as to why they aren’t, answers the question itself. Windmills and solar panels do not create sufficient electricity upon demand to make such a thing viable.

A few months ago Finland announced their 15-minute Supercharger. No word on the damage done each time, but, hey, they’re ‘saving the planet.’
Some European ferries have banned EV autos from their ferry services. Some New York apartment buildings have banned e-bikes and scooters due to fires.
There is an opinion piece at the WSJ today regarding the following:
“Europe Backtracks on Its Gas-Car Ban”
The final paragraph reads as follows:
“That’s a luxury consumers won’t enjoy in California, Oregon and Washington state, where bans on new cars with internal-combustion-engines remain on the books for 2035. You know your state capital has taken a wrong turn when your lawmakers would do well to learn a lesson from Brussels.”
Why not?
