I daresay gunning down children constitutes turning away from God. CC

That's quite a dare. Fortunately, God is not subject to man's judgment nor is his righteousness like man's righteousness. As Heaven is higher than the earth so is God's righteousness higher than man's.

What did Jesus say to the woman caught in adultery who man condemned and was ready to kill?

"I don't condemn you."

Go find out why Jesus in full righteousness could say that to the adulterous women or to this murder of children.

There is no limit to God's forgiveness. Unless we refuse that forgiveness. In her actions we see that she refused Jesus' command to "go and sin no more". Audrey died in her sins, instead of dying to them in Jesus Christ. As hard as that choice may seem, she made it.

Does 'let every thing be established by 2-3 witnesses' count?

Jesus had NOT observed the sin.

Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. — 1 John 3:15

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. — John 8:44

I suggest murder is turning away from God.

Repenting afterwards does not make the murder any different.
Whether you are beyond repentance, is another matter.

Jesus words in context, NKJV John 8:10-12

10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her,[fn] “Woman, where are those accusers of yours?[fn] Has no one condemned you?” TOOLS
11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Imho, far too many people ascribe way too much "cheap grace" to Jesus. He is holy and will not tolerate unrepentant sin. Jesus taught more about Hell than Heaven for a very important reason. So people would choose not to go there?
