Him too....
It was not a “Gun Horror.” It was a mental case horror.
Went dang near 2 weeks without a shower. Chasing elk.
It’s not a female. It was a male that thought he was a female.
And if you don’t agree with his insanity, he’ll kill your kids.
Looks like this story will disappear in a few days as it doesn’t fit the narrative.
Imagine how many shootings you can prevent if you simply banned most Democrats from owning guns, anything to save the children, right?

Good point Pax.
Lost in all the he vs she confusion: we have a clear example of the police stepping up and intervening as quickly as possible. Unlike Uvalde.
Very much agreed.
And to answer ridesthemiles:
I see no reason why an emergency cell phone number could not be set up where the holder cannot dial, say, "1-2-3-4" and the phone automatically sends a message such as "active shooter" and the location to police including patrol cops with cell phones. (Obviously the sending phone's location service would have to be turned on.)
The same sort of system but a little more "capable" could be set up from authorized computers sending a message over the internet. For example:
I also think some warning can be provided by modest (these days) AI and video surveillance. If we can do facial identity, we should certainly be able to spot a shooter before they even open up on a door or attempt to break in otherwise, if on foot. Certainly acoustic detection of shots, doors being shot, and so on can be done, as well as video detection / analysis. Generally the equipment can be cheap, and then you just need some (pretty easy these days) software.
It appears to me that in this case classrooms may have been locked down, but maybe the shooter got into one anyway? I note that the adults murdered were a teacher (female), the custodian, and the head administrator of the school. Were any or all of them attempting to stop or reason with the shooter? Dunno.
Certainly a lot more can be done with the doors. Granted that then a determined shooter may just ramp things up, but, the effort (better doors, etc.), should certainly be made. Other defensive AI measures can be made, too. Steel doors normally open but that quickly shut in case of detected trouble come to mind. In many schools, windows are a weakness and that could be very expensive to correct. And, one hates to make schools look like prisons to kids already sometimes thinking that... However, some active measures may be possible. (I have a pretty "nasty" mind when it comes to threats directed at kids!)
Arming teachers and top staff? That's ok by me, but many educators are just not so inclined at all. The head of the Covenant school, Ms. Koonce, by all accounts is certainly a much more wonderful person than I. But, does she look like the sort of person to take out a shooter? I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it.
Additional random police presence at schools? Done right, that could be useful.
Others will have more ideas (I surely hope!)
“can dial”
There’s video out now. She shot the windows out of the doors.
Siri, call 911 and tell them...
Then get RID of them!
911 sometimes has delays, calls stacked up, etc. Need some sort of high priority access that could immediately (ie., within a second or two) flash nearby police directly. Seconds = lives.
Now, THAT is just not even remotely practical.
“If you won’t let us groom your kids, we have another option” will become the new mantra.
That was at the church, but the school may have had glass doors. Many do, including the private school my wife teaches at.
