Long-held values like patriotism, religion and community involvement are in retreat across America, according to a stunning poll released Monday.
The Wall Street Journal/NORC survey found that just 38% of Americans say patriotism is “very important” to them, down from 70% who said the same in 1998.
Slightly more Americans (39%) placed the same importance on religion, down from 62% who said faith was “very important” to them 25 years ago. The percentage of Americans who said raising children was “very important” fell to 30% in the new poll, down from 59% in 1998.

Hard lessons in reality coming soon to this country.
Understandable.
-Hollywood makes a mockery of all of those.
-Politicians and fakes discredit these ideas as they use them in their campaign (proselytizing from a whorehouse)...
-Public and college education attacks these ideas.
What do you expect? If you make a joke that is race or religion based, that’s a big taboo unless you’re of that religion or black (of course), but what stand up comedian does not have a priest joke? What Hollywood movie produced in the last 30 years portrays a priest as an honorable/loving/kind person (that role today is always a homosexual)?
Frankly, I’m surprised we haven’t gone full Euro sooner. That is one area where they lead us because of the prevalence of government control over the churches, socialist society (socialism is inherently atheist), forced public schooling (i.e. no home schooling in much of Europe), mass censorship (that was going on already with print media in Europe a long time ago, but now in the digital age it’s in the US as well)...
I’ll be singing God Bless America in Church on July 2nd. Though I’m pretty rare amongst my generation.
“Hard lessons in reality coming soon to this country.’
Close, but I believe it has arrived and it progressing beyond control into the disgusting segue of social media and education. The protections in elementary education are begin destroyed daily.
It is hard to remain patriotic when you are regularly disenfranchised, slandered, targeted and blamed for DC’s incompetence and treachery by the federal government.
Seems at odds with DC deep-state and neocon empire-building.
Its gonna be hard to get Americans to sacrifice for (much less fight and die for) the USA when the next shooting war with Russia, China, Iran, North Korea or whoever starts.
A consensus of mutually shared decent values is the foundation of any civilization or nation. Without this, there is no patriotism. Face it. There no longer exists such a consensus in modern day America. Much has happened over the last sixty years, starting truth be told, with the Immigration Reform Act of 1965, the embrace of neo pagan hedonism, the acceptance of homosexuality and its permutations, widespread drug use and other corrupt, degenerate changes too numerous to mention that has destroyed that consensus. The damage is so severe , it is doutful that any one politician or Administration can restore what once was and is now lost.
For something to be important to someone, it has to exist in some recognizable form.
Statistics.
Well, I guess I’m just old fashioned.
I wouldn’t expect the fattest, most comfortable and passively entertained people to ever exist to also care a lot about these types of things. I bet you could track the decreases by the rise of the obesity rate and increase in screen watching hours per year.

Well, I’m in my 70s, but I’m still a pretty good shot. If my country calls me, it will not find me wanting. Hell, even if my country DOESN’T call me; I’ll defend my home against whomever threatens it. But, I’m old fashioned.

This really the Democrat party rule that is my problem with the USA. I’m all in for America, just not the Democrat version of it. I’m religious attend church and do bible study, but politics or political influences are subjects strictly forbidden in church affairs.
I love kids. I have my own, am an uncle, and Hanai uncle to many more.
The Covid plan is coming along nicely.
I think they just went underground.
My guess is that most of us in our 70’s feel that way...We have seen the real America as we grew...The young today haven’t a clue...
For argument sake, let's assume the next war we speak of will be in Ukraine, or Iraq, or maybe in Korea.
No getting around it all these opinions are the result of a lower income.
Compare to 1950’s when one income would support a family in the ‘burbs.
Xiden is not my president
The US as it currently stands is not my country.
If China, Russia landed an army I would welcome them as liberators.
I have no respect for the current US military, police, government, education system or corporations. I do not have the ability to oppose many of them directly but will use passive resistance, non compliance, going Galt+ techniques to work towards the overthrow of the former US.
