NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – At least four people are dead, including the shooter, following an “active shooter” situation at a school in Green Hills.

The Nashville Fire Department said the incident happened at Covenant School located at 33 Burton Hills Boulevard. Metro police reported that officers engaged the shooter, who is dead. A spokesperson with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt confirmed to News 2’s Kendall Ashman that three children were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but have died from their injuries.

Hospital officials also said two adults were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and have died from their injuries.

I noticed this too a while ago looking at the arrest pictures of antifa in the endless summer riots in Portland a few years ago. In recent months, rhetoric about carrying out "revenge" & "vengeance" on society for some states restricting the medical transitioning of minors has surged. I think it was the idea of a large standing army that the Founders feared, not any national army at all. I believe this comes from British tradition. Before Cromwell, England didn’t have much of an army per se at all. Any army big enough to suppress the population was viewed with great suspicion.

The Constitution specifically says that funding for the Army has to be from year to year, as opposed to the Navy—navies not being thought of as a threat to liberty.

The idea of a small, professional army worked well for us for a long time.
