The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed Wednesday that a witness who Jan. 6 defendant Enrique Tarrio’s lawyer Sabino Jauregui planned to call for testimony had been an FBI informant, based on a court filing American Greatness’ Julie Kelly obtained.
Jauregui said DOJ attorneys would not tell him whether two other planned witnesses were FBI informants, a hearing transcript shows.
“My biggest concern is the fact that we still have confidential human sources who are unknown to us,” defendant Zachary Rehl’s lawyer Carmen Hernandez said Thursday. A Jan. 6 defendant’s lawyer said Justice Department (DOJ) attorneys would not tell him Wednesday whether planned witnesses in the case were FBI informants, shortly after the government revealed a different planned witness to have been an informant herself, according to a hearing transcript obtained by American Greatness’ Julie Kelly.
Former Proud Boys National Chairman Enrique Tarrio and members Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola are standing federal trial in Washington, D.C., for allegedly conspiring to oppose the transfer of presidential power in January 2021, and the government said Wednesday that a defense witness Tarrio’s lawyers meant to call had served as an FBI confidential human source from April 2021 to January 2023, court filings show. Tarrio’s attorney, Sabino Jauregui, said in a Thursday hearing that he subsequently asked the DOJ whether his next two witnesses were FBI sources as well, the transcript provided by Kelly indicates.
“You know what they told me?” Jauregui said. “Nothing. They don’t know.”
Court filings reported in November suggested the FBI had up to eight informants within the Proud Boys in the months surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to the NYT.

I'm not a lawyer but it seems to be if the defense worked with a witness they would have known his testimony, but being a GVT spy and now taking the 5th is malfeasance.
Furthermore he should be compelled to testify about anything he provided to the FBI during that time.
"judge" STOOGE Timmy Kelly of the DC Peoples' Court is a pile of dogsqueezins.
The twilight zone.
Funny. Garland went to Harvard as an undergraduate and to Harvard law school. So did Bragg. See pattern of corruption and incompetence here?
The defense has a right to question a witness who claims he will assert his 5th Amendment right to not incriminate himself. Nothing more helpful for a defense to question a witness who repeatedly take the 5th. Every assertion of the 5thdrives home the point that the prosecution is dirty as hell.
America has gone to the Dark Side.
Will it be enough? Will it be soon enough?
Kind of what I was thinking, having the GVT spy taking the 5th is not good for the prosecution.
Ask them under oath.
If you ever need to talk to the FBI and they will not pick up the phone, there is an alternative way to connect with them.
Just call anything they call a white nationalist group, proud boys, parents’ rights group, or KKK and there is a high probability you are talking to an FBI man.
/Sarcasm or perhaps not.
They will like like a clinton, just for the practice. Never mind if it might implicate them in any way.
I’ve actually had the FBI pick up the phone when I have called. Even had a couple of returned calls, which I recorded. Have also gotten a couple of replies to emails they wish they hadn’t sent.
If the FBI wants to meet with you to ask questions, ALWAYS have a recording device ready to turn on at your lawyers office. They will tell you they don’t allow meetings with lawyers to be recorder. When your lawyers tell them it’s going to be recorded anyway, the FBI agents will get up and leave. All of a sudden they aren’t all that interested in talking to you
They'll still lie. National Security, Patriot Act, FISA Court, sources and methods, whatever.
Some nonsense like that will be the excuse.
A lawyer who attempts to draw an inference by a 5th amendment plea would be sanctioned. It’s a violation of a constitutional right.
They don’t need to draw inference, but they do need to get them on record in front of the jury taking the 5th.
It would really be interesting if the defense had video of the defense working with the GVT spy, play that video in court and ask if it was true testimony.
It is clear that the DOJ has no interest in “Justice.” All they care about is following political orders in this J6 Soviet style show trial.
Let’s find out why the FBI can’t infiltrate Antifa and prevent their multi-million dollars worth of arson, injuries and insurrection violence.
