No I thought Sessions was the real deal - after all he was a vocal supporter of Trump during the campaign - and I was wrong.
And I agree one of the fundamental weaknesses Trump had was as an outsider he lacked a political team he could quickly assemble to go nuclear against the DC swamp. So yeah he had to bring in some GOPe insiders especially at the beginning to help him get started (Priebes etc) as well as family members who would be more loyal (Ivanka and Jared).
But I also believe that Trump was naive in thinking some portion of the DC swamp, like some of the GOPe, would “come around” and support him and his key initiatives if he extended some olive branches.
Remember early on when asked about “lock her up” and he said something to the effect “oh no the Clintons have suffered enough”? I thoughts right then -and I think many of us here felt similarly -that he didn’t seem to know what he was really up against.
He’s looking to join the FBI, I guess.
(The statute of limitations and the ridiculousness of which account the money came from does exonerate Trump)
