Former President Trump quickly took a swipe Monday at Ron DeSantis, his main potential rival for the GOP presidential nomination, after the Florida governor weighed in on a potential Trump indictment in New York.
“Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser, and better known,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that linked to a story making claims against DeSantis.
“I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do,” Trump wrote.
DeSantis has previously hit back at Trump’s attacks on Truth Social, arguing that “I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”
The Florida governor on Monday offered his first public comments about the possible Trump indictment connected to an alleged hush-money payment made on behalf of the former president ahead of the 2016 election.

This is so counterproductive

I wonder if we will see another 100 responses on this thread, as proxy battles between those who prefer Trump and those who prefer DeSantis, igniting again.

Yup... . Ya beat up your opponent and then expect him to support you. Seems odd.

We all know the traits of Ron DeSantis, his handlers and his influencers when we encounter them in our lives. They are generally insecure people, constantly showing annoying traits of weaponized superiority and passive aggression. That said, notice the background mechanics of the Ron DeSantis statement today and you will notice why I keep pointing out that everything in his orbit is managed by a stable of handlers.
At the conclusion of his remarks about central bank digital currencies, the first question from the media came from Megan Nager – of the Florida Standard. DeSantis was prepped and ready, complete with reference points on the podium if needed. It’s almost certain that Pushaw and crew coordinated the first question for Ms. Nager, as they knew people were awaiting to hear DeSantis’ opinion.
Watch his response through the prism of rehearsal and management, and the flow of the response becomes brutally obvious.
Video at 22:30 (prompted) WATCH:
“We have no interest in getting involved in what is a political spectacle created by a
Soros-funded prosecutor.” … “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a
porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair”…
Ron DeSantis says whatever his managers and handlers tell him to say. It really is that simple. He is an empty vessel. There is not an authentic bone in his body; everything comes from a controlled and consulted script.

Referring to those who prefer DeSantis for the Republican presidential nomination.

I don’t think so. Trump is waking up his fellow Republicans, and I’m sure some of those “moderate” Democrats we hear about on occasion, that if this abuse of Law by the Left is allowed to continue, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is in danger of having the same thing happen to them. They need to get that through their heads. Donald Trump is just the “test case” for these evil, corrupt would-be tyrants.

I thought DeSantis did a good job on his rebuttal about “Trump’s supposed arrest”. Seems he is the bigger man-—also, this article is from “The Hill” and I don’t know how much to believe.

Taking silly shots at POTENTIAL other candidates? Or returning MILD fire? Of BOTH?
I vote for BOTH! Trump is my candidate but I like DeSantis also. They are the two best potential 2024 nominees.

Nope, it was not. It was the correct response, holding DeSantis accountable for his delay and his petty, incorrect, swipe at President Trump in his statement.

DeSantis missed his chance: he could've gone on the attack as a conservative and asked why a criminal case was being even mentioned about a former president - something that has never happened before.
Or he could have gone on the offensive and said "why haven't we indicted Hillary for her criminal actions or Bill for lying under oath, or Lois Lerner for destroying evidence, and so on?"
But he didn't - proving that he is the usual political hack masquerading as a conservative.
