It is counterproductive - unless DeSantis is an Establishment tool who’s being encourage by Establishment donors to challenging Trump for the presidency in which case Trump is getting an early jump on things. It’s always easier to deal with a problem at its inception rather than wait for it to grow. I suspect Trump knows what’s going on behind the scenes and has good reason to believe DeSantis is planning to throw his hat in the ring. From Trump’s point of view, it makes sense to smash him early so the party can unite behind him for the general election.

Who is the opponent? DeSantis issues a statement, does not mention Trump by name, but repeats twice the accusations about porn stars and payoffs, that he says, he personally has not engaged in.

I don’t really give a rat’s about what you list here about Trump. I do know that we live in a dangerous world, with some really dangerous people. Your PJ Boy Ron, is great for Florida. Don’t think you could find anyone better, but as a president of the USA, he’s fodder for the likes of our enemies foreign and domestic.
