I recently wrote how public educators and unions were methodically killing public education. The best example this week comes from New York where a school board committee has solved the dismal math and reading scores for children in the system . . . they lowered the standards. This is not the first system to gut its standards rather than improve its quality of education. As teachers and unions object to school choice, they continue to make the case for private education. Parents are increasingly voting with their feet. The board is simply calling the lack of proficiency “the new normal” and changing the standards. Done.
New York will permanently lower the math and reading proficiency standards after embarrassing results in state testing. It is akin to shortening the 100 yards dash to 50 yards to stay competitive on speed. *** There is now an acceptance that the public schools cannot actually educate students to proficiency levels needed to succeed in the modern world. In the meantime, some districts are moving to a four-day work week for teachers to reduce stress.
We previously discussed the elimination of gifted and talented programs to achieve equity by artificially lowering everyone to the same level.
Other schools have eliminated the “F” to guarantee 100 percent passage rates.
Still others have suspended proficiency standards to simply graduate students who cannot reach required levels in writing, math, and English.
There is also a move to end standardized testing.
In a prior column, I was particularly moved by the frustration of a mother in Baltimore recently who complained that her son was in the top half of his class despite failing all but three of his classes. Graduating students without proficiency in English or Math is the worst possible path for these students, schools and society. ***

The Dumbing Down of American kids. These same kids who can’t do math, can’t read or speak English are the “young skulls of mush” (Rush Limbaugh) the commie libs want us to listen to when they’re flapping their drooling jaws about “climate change” and who also want to give the right to vote to just because they know how to poke a cellphone. IOW. Morons.
Increase the standards on groomer teachers. Implement spot knowledge tests. Any grade below 90% results in termination, revocation of their teaching license, and loss of pension. I think this proposal is overly kind and fair. Failing teachers should not be charged with fraud and face prison time. They can be productive members of society by learning to say, “Do you want fries with that?”

You’re 2 and your cousin is twice your age. How old will she be when you’re 40. Most people answered 80 or 60. I can explain 80 (twice as much as 40), but how do you get 60? Yes a few said 42.
Go to a young cashier and when the bill is $17 give them a 20 and 2 ones and see what happens.
They won’t be able to fill out a job application so they won’t be working

Lowering standards won’t accomplish anything. This country needs educated people.

Hey, give them a break. I’m sure the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, N Koreans and even Mexican school systems are dumbing down their kiddos also so they don’t make our alumni look too bad on the world stage.

Ever notice with computers we now have more paper? I drive through carls Jr. a receipt when you pay, a receipt on the bag where they fold it over and hand it to you to try and force the receipt into your hand, and a receipt inside the bag. Maybe it’s just me.
This country needs an enema.
